Another 160 t stat sticking

This is my third one so far two misumotos and one jet now. Is this just a problem with the 160s or are other people having problems with them sticking? Are there any other brands to look at?

I had the Mishimoto one but didn't install it because of the way it's designed compared to OEM. So, I bought one from Livernois; it's basically a refurbished OEM...no issues so far.

I’ll look at it. I went with the jet because it was recommended and they said they have never had a issue with one. I got around 5000 miles on it and today it started acting up.

There is already an in-depth thread on this. Multiple aftermarket brands are junk.

TLDR: The Katech 160 degree thermostat is the ONLY one you want IMO.

Yep, happened to me at the track and caused my IATs to elevate and coolant got to 235 so I took mine completely out since I really don't drive it on the street or in cold weather. A gen6mike's failed at the drag strip also at Famoso in a test session.

Evaporated it in the heat exchanger. Mine is still the closed loop. I’ll check to see if I have air in it now. I’m headed to pocono for the 1/2 mile roll races on Saturday. It stuck twice yesterday. The alarm went off reduced power I started to pull over and it opened and the temps went right down so I continued home. It did the same thing one more time. Both times the gauge showed 260 or pinned. Last time I watched it go up and then it came right back down.

I ordered a Kaytech

AMP and a few others make and LS3 style thermostat housing for the LT4. Perhaps those are more durable and reliable.

Had the same experience as laynlo15, Mishimoto thermostat had problem at the track, tried another one and ended up having a problem with that one too. Trying the new Katech now, but have not had it long enough yet to give the all clear.

Yep, this is the winner here. I have the AMP (Advanced Modern Performance, Dalls TX) housing and LS3 style 160 stat on my car, zero issues with it. Had it since I put the Procharger D1SC on the car.
