Issues getting it into 1st & 2nd gear when cold

Hey guys my z/28 has around 3900 miles now and since I got it around 2400 miles I have been having a small issue of getting it into 1st & 2nd gear the first couple times I start to drive it after it has sat and cooled down. I'll get in and warm the engine and then a lot of times I'll shift it into like 3rd or 4th gear a couple times before trying to get 1st. It is almost like the clutch isn't fully disengaging or the syncro isn't messing just right like its tight when cold. Anyone else had this issue?

You sure it's not the skip shift feature? That gets me occasionally, but it could be that you need to ad a little fluid to the trans. If it's a new vehicle though, you shouldn't have to do that. I do notice my M6 SS does the same thing when cold, I just go easy on her till she gets up to temp. But the issue is not exagerated much as you see to be saying yours does. I never really have to cram her into gear, just drive her easily till she's warmed up.

68000 miles and no have not seen this. FYI, I usually cold start it and put it into reverse to get out of the garage and then into first but and even under 40F it still has no issue getting into gear. On some cold days I notice the movement of the shifter isn't as slick but I've never had an issue going into gear.

Do you have a stock clutch?

Not the Skip shift I'm well aware of skip shift that was shut off using HPtuners day one!! LOL

Fluid level is up I checked that when I did my Heads, cam, and header install as I too wondered about the level

Thanks

one of the many quirks about the TR6060 transmission. i would recommend by swapping your trans fluid with AMSOIL. that's a good start

I've kicked around the idea of switching fluids to another brand but just wasn't ready to blame it all on a fluid just odd it gets better when warm. I guess the fluid could thin out and work better once warm but my thought was why 1st and 2nd gear only. I've tried clutching in a couple times to see if it was like the clutch was sticking and parts were still moving but that also doesn't make since why it would also only be 1st and 2nd gear

Change the the trans fluid to red line or other high performance name brand. That's the cheapest way to go first. If that doesn't work look into master clutch cylinder. If that doesn't work look into the main clutch itself. After I changed my fluid to red line, it's smooth as butter.

Check with your dealer if they can cover the last two.

Mine is like that when its ice cold, sitting overnight. First is tough to engage when moving. No real issue with 2nd however. Its all better after the first mile or two.

Mine has a problem popping out of second on occasion. Usually I notice it when I am going around a slow corner. I downshift into second and sometimes it pops back into neutral. I used to think it was me not pulling the shifter all the way into gear but it has happened so often I'm not sure now. After it pops out if I try to put it back into second it just grinds. I must put in into 3rd to keep going. I have pissed off some drivers behind me on occasion when this happens. Other times it works just fine and I don't have the problem. I'm not sure if I should take it to the dealer or not. I hate taking my car to dealers you never know if you can trust them.

Basically the same concern it sounds like. 2nd gear isn't as bad or as often in mine.
