You are not going to enjoy taking the Camaro to a construction site.
If you want to keep it, get a used pickup truck that you can afford instead of a new Jeep. Like Camaro, Jeep Wranglers are highly specialized vehicles with not much room inside. |

You’ve probably never driven a 4 door before. They are not your grandpas Willy’s. Every bit as much and likely more room than my grand Cherokee has.

I didn't realize this was a challenge thread but I can tell you as part of my job I hauled between 500 and 1000 lbs give or take, in the bed on any given day. Motors, gear boxes, sprockets, etc. Did it for two years without issue.

No challenge intended my apologies, I’ve just had to replace turbos on them and have seen a lot with head gasket issues. When they overheat they melt the seals out of the coolant sides of the turbos and start to leak coolant. They run really good for what I’d call Harry home owner stuff. 500-1000 in the bed is a lot different than 8-1000 on the rear hitch going up a good grade. Start pushing the towing limits consistently on them and the weaknesses become pretty obvious especially on the earlier trucks, I haven’t messed with any from the last few years.

In general turbos do tend to have a lower life span than naturally aspirated engines, I get that. When my company bought us our new trucks my F150 had 100K on it and still ran strong though. But in the end, I would still not buy one for the aforementioned reasons I outlined in my original post. |

I've hauled pallets of pavers (about 5000#) in the bed of my 02 Silverado and it's only given trouble when I tried to use it as a submarine. Anecdotes are'nt worth much; everybody likes what they like. I've owned all the big three and Chevy treated me the best, so I drive Chevy's
If the OP really loves his Camaro, can afford to keep it and get a work truck, and has room for an extra vehicle, getting a work truck is probably his best option. His Camaro has plenty of life left and I'm pretty sure they are close to their bottom in value so there won't be any finding another for what he can get in trade in a few years. Hell, an old beat up minivan would probably do the trick for going to work, if he really wants to keep the Camaro. Life is all about choices.

keep it and get a used Sierra / Silverado / colorado. I have a jeep as my daily and honestly...its dinky for daily duties, shakes on the freeway at 60-65+ bad gas mileage and honestly doesnt have much storage space.

eep the camaro
I' buy an old Jeep TJ and keep the Camaro. I have a 01 TJ and it's very reliable and waaay cheaper than than this new stuff. Plus you can work on it yourself.

Ive had this same revelation lately with my 2010. It only has 63k miles on it but being in construction like you, its kind of always been more of a pain than anything but I truly love the car. Sooooo last week I bought a 2000 GMC Yukon for 2 grand, insurance is next to nothing on it and surprisingly enough, adding it to my policy lowered the insurance on the Camaro since its not considered my DD anymore. Maybe find a cheap truck AND keep the Camaro?

I would keep it. Since it wont be your daily anymore get cheaper insurance on it.
I dont know where you live, but used Wranglers here in NY are actually the only vehicle I know that I would buy new, because dealers rip people off for used and off lease wranglers.
