Okay, so I'm confused now. I took my factory radio out today in preparation to do the aftermarket install tomorrow with the idatalink Maestro dash kit. I looked at the instructions on their website but I have no idea where I'm going to get the video feed from my factory backup camera to the video input on my Pioneer unit. The first picture shows all the connectors which one of them is labeled backup camera. One end has the VGA connection and the other has a grey connector of some sort. I'm assuming the VGA end connects to the video input backup connection on the Pioneer. That's pretty simple. But where will I plug in the grey connector that's shown on the Maestro kit? There's only two other factory connections that look like one is the regular radio antenna and the other looks like it might be for the XM antenna. So I have no idea where I plug in the grey connector to get the video feed from my factory backup camera.
Any ideas please?

Your back-up camera will plug into the brownish colored plug. I have a Pioneer HU as well and I had to call Crutchfield and they walked me through it. Also, if you are connecting it and want to try it out before tucking it in to the dash you need to start the car to get the feed, at least that's what I had to do. The yellow plugs are for additional cameras or other video feeds. I was gonna install a front camera but decided not to cause I didn't want to drill thru the firewall and couldn't find an easy access spot from other wiring |

If i'm not mistaken, it is part of the wiring harness from the factory, but my camera feed was coming thru my head unit. The grey plug with the yellow connector should plug into one of the factory plugs. If you live near Clermont I would be happy to come and help you out

So here's an update.... Apparently it'll be a good to do if I want to use the video feed from my OEM back up camera because like I said earlier, my video feed shows on a 2" square on my rear view mirror. This means getting the feed down to the head unit wouldn't be an easy feat. Even then, I was advised just to run a new feed with a new back up camera. I was told even if I did have the OEM feed down to my head unit they said the resolution would probably suck too bad for me to enjoy it. Therefore I spent a good while today running a new video feed from back to front along with installing a new back up camera that has HD resolution. So the image should look really nice on my new Pioneer unit. I hope to finish it today.....

Ugh, I did more reading on how to install the Maestro RR. Since it connects to the OBD2 port I wont be able to have my two Aeroforce gauges connected. Craptastic...

Here's my finished project. I love the iDatalink Maestro setup along with the Pioneer AVH 4500NEX. Everything looks and works perfectly.... I never knew how much better my Boston Acoustics could/would sound with an aftermarket head unit.
I have no idea why the pictures are uploaded sideways though.....

the rr2 is great but if you only want to upgrade your stereo and your not into the other goodies the rr is fine. |
