guage cluster

I took delivery of my Aqua Marine Blue 1SS July 25th. When I peeked in the door I was surprised to see that the console gauge cluster wasn't there. I thought it was part of the RS package. It isn't. It is part of the SS package. I held my hurt inside, after all this beauty is mine! Then in one of the many clone hot rod type magazines I saw an article claiming that the gauge cluster would be a dealer option. Yaah! When I talked to the guys at my local dealer they had never heard of the idea, but they did some checking on the telephone. The only thing that they could tell me "officially", was that the concept is, "Not Supported". Has any one else pursued the idea with different results?

gague package

I ordered my 1SS specificially because I didn't want things like the gague package, ambient lighting, leather, etc.
Enjoy the car. You won't run into anything while trying to read the gagues.

The aux gauges come with 2LT and 2SS only. Has nothing to do with RS. The whole thing with 4 pack being a option has been put off month after month. There have been some who got a 4 pack from wreaked cars and tried to install them. The wire harness is there, but when plugged in the 4 pack is dead. Something about having to program the ECM to feed data to it, but they haven't released a program either yet. Patients!!!

I like the gauges because I try to wait until the oil temp is up, before punching it in the morning.

Now I know when I can unleash her!

You are right I won't run into anything while reading the gauges, they sure are not in a user friendly place, but they sure do look awesome.

Hm, I've heard conflicting theories on this. One is like yours; you should wait until the car is warmed up. The other is that the oil pump sends the needed oil through your car in about 10 seconds, so newer cars don't need the warm up time.

Someone lay the facts down on us.

I guess? I have them, don't need them, as I don't even know what the readings mean. People ask me, "What do those do?" I just say "I don't know, they came with the car!" ........ I just drive it...

Personally, I'd rather have that spot for cubby holes ... there just isn't enough places to put "stuff". But it's all good... as I said, I just drive it.

I believe he was referring to the oil TEMP however, not the engine receiving oil from the pump in adequit time. The oil is thinner when it is cold so that the engine can start easily, then gets thicker as it warms up becoming a better "lubricant" to the engine and its internal parts. That's what he meant by warming up.

Thanks for asking this question. I was wondering about the availability of the gauges and if you can add them or not. The salesman I spoke to said you could, but I guess not yet. Too bad the 1SS leaves them out. I wish all the extra features of the 2SS, ambient lighting, gauges, leather, etc were individual options. It makes sense to someone who doesn't want leather, but would desires the other features of the 2SS package.

Mike, you got it TOTALLY backwards. the oil is THICKER when its cold, and THINNER when its warms up. Its a function of its VISCOSITY and TEMP.
