This is matte black. It is not reflective.


This is gloss black. It is highly reflective.

No I know they def not the same (although similar) but I just dont know what that difference is

Somewhat depends on the company, but matte usually comes after flat as far as shine: flat-> matte-> eggshell-> satin-> semi-gloss-> gloss-> and so on.

According to another site's discussion, both lack reflective qualities. Flat black is less reflective. Matte black is more glossy, but it is much less glossy than semi-gloss paint. In cars, the both are very similar. In homes, there's more of a difference.

he's right on.

most companies don't offer BOTH matte and flat since they're near the same, although i have seen some spray paint brand that had both and i recall flat being just barely less relfective

here is matte, has texture to it, flat black still has some-what of a little gloss to it
