Nick Williams Throttle Body Replacement

Did anyone else get screwed over buying a Nick Williams throttle body before they came out with a boosted model? I already dropped over 600 when I bought the 102mm and there was no Boosted model, less than 5k miles and getting a P2101 with the engine shutting off. Now I am supposed to spend another $700 for a boosted model? Thats crap. So can anyone recommend a good replacement for the Nick Williams 102mm that can actually handle 18+ lbs of boost?

what's different on the boosted model? I have one w/ my whipple and it seems to be fine (only seeing the standard 9-10lbs though).

The control motor on the non-boosted models gets overpowered by the airflow which ends up causing an error that slams the throttle body shut. It is extremely dangerous I was doing 75 on the highway yesterday and it slammed shut killing the motor leaving me without power steering or power brakes while going around a bend..... Would think that Nick Williams would stand behind their product and offer the upgraded motor to previous customers so that their customers aren't put into danger.

They do exactly that. Send it in for the boosted upgrade for a minimal upgrade cost, or he can send you the boosted motor and you can do it yourself.

WOW, that's crazy. Is it just for higher-boost applications, or should I look into replacing mine? Better safe than sorry, I know...but I don't want to throw money away if it's not an issue.

From my understanding the standard model has issues on the PD style blowers at a certain point and some high boost centri setups. I was pretty hot about it yesterday as my car killed the engine 3 times at speed, losing power brakes and steering on the interstate in traffic sucks. I will look into the upgrade if I can do that.

I just messaged them through the contact on their page, I did have a conversation with Nick Williams via email back in 2016 I am wondering if he still uses that address.......

Spoke with them today they do offer the upgrade for boosted applications for $250 plus shipping with about a 1 week turn around. Its not something you can really do yourself according to them. They said text them @ 704-433-1428 explain what you want and need and they will send you instructions on how to send the item in.
