Does anyone have 305/30/20 nitto 555r's on stock wheels?
wondering If I'll be able to fit 305s on stock wheels or if I should go with 295?
I heard people talk about relocating the wiring in the wheel well, not sure if its necessary or not |

They don’t make that tire in a 305/30/20. They also don’t make it in a 295. That being said. A 305/35/20 will fit on a stock wheel (but not recommended). You will have to relocate the wiring harness on the drivers side. I love running them.

Theres just really no point in putting that on a 9.5 rim. all it does is just crush it togther and its not that wide anymore. Its mainly because it such a short side wall. Also makes it uneven in pressur contact with the road as the center trying to push out more from being scrunched up so much. i know been there done that. Like so many have said you get better traction on a right size. U can go to a 285 that works pretty good on a 9.5 in fact the fk500 by falken tire is only off .2 over my toyos 888r 315 30 20 on a 10.5 rim. Thats to a 100 or 60 like the toys will do 3.4 to 60 and 7.0 to 100 then the fk will do 3.6 and 7.2. Seems impressive to me. I did the 285 35 20 so for what ever thats worth.
If the tire has a taller sidewall then a smaller rim is allowed but it starts getting up into the 50 series Heck it will scrunch it so much you can run a 9.5 with a 305 30 on the front lol. with spacer of course Last edited by Kerry; 03-11-2020 at 09:40 PM. |

I had 285/35 20s on the rear wheels of my 2016 2SS and the ride was good too! That size fits real good on the 9.5 stock rear wheels and the speedometer is off by 1 mph or so!

295 NT555’s fit fine on 9.5 rim. Not squashed.
I have them on mine. |

I have 315/35s 555Rs on my 1LE wheels and they fit fine. I have my harness re-located however I dont think it was necessary.
However the re-location mod is VERY easy. I would suggest doing it anyways. As far as the tires - if you are looking for grip, I would get something else. I mean they aren't bad, but they do not really do much more for me than the factory Supercar F1 3s (the stock 1LE tires)

The 305/35/20 555r fits the stock wheel fine. Nitto's tend to run a tad small for their rating and they actually fit the wheel about perfect.

285 is the right size for that wheel.

You are entitled to your opinion but it's been the general consensus for many years with Nitto tires. Search it in google...they run small for their rating.

If you're just doing it for show, to have the bigger tire on the back, sure, it will work. Now, if you plan on doing any actual spirited driving, it's counter productive. As said previously, you're squeezing the tire, so you're actual contact patch gets smaller, which means less traction. Your sidewall loses stability in corners as well.
I tried this experiment once, and the result was needed to replace the tire in less than a year because the center of the tire was nearly bald, while the shoulder of the tire looked almost new. |
