New Dyno Day Scheduled, Finally.

Hello guys, hope everyone is well and staying safe! Well I was finally able to get hooked up with the performance shop here in town that does a lot of LS stuff, he has a world record holding CTSV, so I'm told.A lot of my friends were telling me about him so I finally had some time off from work and was able to get an appt and go chat with him about my Camaro and the issues I am having from my previous tuner and tune. Since the LOD install a year ago I have upgraded some items and told him I need a new and proper tune to make her run great again, not that she doesn't now, but it just needs tweaking. So I have a dyno date Wednesday the 22nd in the early morning, supposed to be kinda cool out that day.
Also he is going to retune the transmission and converter and read the TQ and HP line to see what stall I really should be running as I told him after driving the car for 2 years with the 3200 in it, just doesn't seem to be enough. I told him I'm looking at wanting to go with a 4000 stall as the cam seems to need it. So we shall see. My understanding and what I've heard is the guy travels around tuning vehicles across the country as is quite noted. So will keep you guys informed as to the outcome.

And this is at my track.

Do you have a dyno sheet from your last dyno?

Yes I do, both sheets. The 1 of the original cam swap with the stock intake and the 1 after the LOD install re-tune. Going to take them to him to check out.

Well guys, tomorrow is the day!! Going to have him go through the whole tune and make sure things are at best and everything is safe and tuned correctly, and get rid of that pesky CEL that has been there for a year now, forgot the code, but it said " massive evaporative systems leak" after my last tuner deleted the entire evap system, supposedly, seems they forgot something. Wish me luck and I'll keep ya's posted.

Can you post your last dyno sheet? I think the stall should hit at the point of max torque. (I may be wrong on that)

Well guys, all done and maaann gotta tell ya, it's nice to finally find a good, great tuner! Got the Camaro all strapped up at 8:30 this morning, he plugged in his laptop to see what he was working with and immediately found several "messed up" items in the previous tune! The evap system wasn't deleted totally in the tune, fixed that, it was running lean on 1 side, they didn't have that correct, fixed that, also had a cat code where they didn't set them correctly, 1 was still on. Wow... Got all that mess straightened out and did a drivability tune on it to adjust all the A/F, timing, trans and converter settings. Once all that was squared away he did a pull to 6500 just to see what was going on at WOT. Found it was running a bit rich so he re adjusted that and made another pull to 6800, still was a bit rich and the converter needed to be tweaked, did that. Then he did a pull to 7100,wow she has never been that high, but she sounded great! A/F was good now and he didn't like what the converter was doing, so he tuned some more on it to get it where he liked it, then we did a final pull out to 7500rpm!! OH MY, she was SCREAMIN!! Then that was that, all done.
Final numbers, RWHP went from 459 previous tune to 474,,RWTQ went from 359 previous tune to 486!! And maann let me tell you, driving this Camaro home after this tune, wow what a different animal!! I thought it pulled hard before? Holy Cow man, this thing is a monster!! Gotta say NOW I am happy with my tune. This guy, Cal is also a very cool guy and really knows his stuff, he showed me everything he was doing, and everything he found wrong, and also asked me what I was looking for and how did I want the converter and trans to act, he did all that. Found out talking to him he usually travels the country tuning race cars for race teams in the drag racing world, and his CTS-V is a record holder for the fastest stock supercharged car at 8.7.
So now al I have to do is drive her around some at he said to get back with him and let him know if I'm happy with the tune. So far me like !! As soon as I get some new batteries for my camera, I will take a pic of the dyno sheet and post it up. Cheers guys...

Very nice man! Only thing I will say is that the 486 for torque seems REALLY high, much much more than most cammed L99's. I mean, GPI's SS4 cam with heads isn't pulling that much...

lol yea that is a high number, but I have it on paper. He ran the converter "unlocked" he said it hits hard right at the hit of the throttle from 2500 and goes straight up from there and levels off. Also when he stopped the run at 7500 he said the engine still wanted to make power but didn't want to run it past there, no need to, and this was with stock heads too. All I know is that from a standing start the car will roast the tires thru 4th gear!! Have to let off to let them bite. And from a cruise, man you romp on it and hold on cause your going some where quickly! It's a whole different car from what is was this morning when I went there, and the around town drivability is still nice and smooth. Oh don't know if I mentioned the shop or not, it is Hartline Performance in Melbourne Fl
