Wild guess of the day.... things like the Torque Managment systems are hold the car back... For example, the car goes to like -8 degrees of timing on the shifts... so basically you pull all the power, make a nice and easy slow shift and then start going again...

Think this car could really benefit from a tune... not so much for gains but for releasing what is already there! LOL

Exactly! My 5000lb trailblazer hits 2.0 60fts at 13.7. Your camaro has way better aerodynamics. So with the -8 degree non-sence in the factory tune eliminated, you should be in the mid 13's no question.

For those of you that want to try this with the stock or aftermarket intakes, here is the part numbers I came up with. These come in handy if your local parts store is like mine around here, the guys behind the counter are real nice people they just don't have a clue sometimes.

As stated by scrming in the first part of this thread...

pigtail wire is GM part# 12102620 and what you get from O'Reilly is a BWD brand part# PT778 for $16.99 each.

push in type IAT sensor is GM part# 12160244 and what you get from O'Reilly is a BWD brand part# WT3036 for $13.49 each. This sensor fits the 98-02 LS1 Camaro as well as many other vehicles.

So this is a really inexpensive mod and if it helps make your engine perform better and be more consistent, it is worth it to me.

5 stars

I did this mod yesterday and I have to give it 5 stars!

It does respond better just like Scrming said, a little more pep. I had a good test for it yesterday evening to see if it would help out the response after the sensor got heat soak. I had driven about 30 miles already and then got stuck in traffic at the toll booth on the way to a club meeting. I sat there about 20 minutes with the engine at idol in stop and go traffic, so I know the engine temps were climbing. Once I got through the toll booth, I got on it to take off and it responded in the same manner as it would first thing in the morning.

Nothing dramatic... I don't monitor my MPG really close... seems like my City MPG may have gone down some but I'm thinking that's more do to my heavier foot now! LOL!

I know what you mean... I'm being much more conservative with this car than my Mustang... fighting the urge to just start buying things! LOL

Couple weeks later... ran a 13.13... decided to go for the 12 and ended up spray a bit too early... oops...

broke a piston... took out the ring landing...

So while the Zex is a good kit... and it's ridiculous fun with the instant torque... well.. i'm going to pass this time... LOL

Has anyone who has also done this mod tried pulling the pins (or terminals) from the connector to avoid cutting the harness? Could use a kit like this one to mate the factory sensor wires to the older style pigtail and have a factory appearing mod.

I am seriously considering going with the Airaid and IAT mod as well. Since you have had them both for a little time now what are your thoughts? Performance increased? MPG change much?
