Wheels on Backwards
I was standing in a parking lot this am and noticed the front offset looked off, and the rear looked equally off in the opposite direction. Looking at the hub, it sure looks like the previous owners tire shop installed them backwards thinking that they were the same due to running a square tire setup.
I guess I know what I get to do tomorrow!! Anyone else run into this?

There's a peg/prong to prevent this from happening.

Could it still be done? Wondering now if they are correct then? Do the fronts bulge slightly and the rears sunk in a bit?

Pull one off. Part #s are stamped on wheel. Reference "sticky" for Z/28 part #s (above in this forum). 225 are 11" fronts. 227 are 11.5" rears. Be careful removing these wheels, easy to scratch and care needs to be taken not to harm rotors. When you said "backwards" I was thinking something much more entertaining.

IDK if it's possible to get the rears on the fronts.. the rears are 32.25mm offset and fronts are 11mm... pretty sure it would be contacting the front strut

Rears cannot go on the front.
Looking at the car, the fronts are wider than the car itself, even with the wheel arches. Where as the rears have a very slight tuck. This can be over pronounced when wider tires are on the rims.

Since you're new to the Z/28 world do yourself a favor and go through past threads to learn about some of the odd maintenance issues with this beast. I threw in an edit above about the wheel removal. No wheel cleaners/tire dressing near rotors, watch out for drivers side seatbelt scuffing, steering wheel and shift nob cleaning etc. I'm still in the learning stage myself.

Man, sorry to hear that. Yes, it's do able. One of the shop here did the same thing to mine. Installed front to rear vice versa. Tires are all the same but the rims are 7.5x11 front and 7.5x11.5 rear. Check the rims and make sure they are not scratched. 11.5 on the front will tear up the multi-link strut from rubbing. Good luck.
FYI: Shop name withheld because they ate the cost and fixed it all or I was going to rip a new hole with a law suite. |

On my car the front wheels had yellow paint under the center caps for the two from wheels.

I haven't had a chance to pull a wheel, but I am driving the wheels off of this car and nothing is rubbing, etc. so I assume its just the way they fit.
