A 6th gen 1le weighs 3750lbs and the 5th gen 1le weighs 3860lbs. That's a 110lb difference. 6th gen is marketed at 455 horse and a lot of us know 2013+ camaros are actually putting down more than 426, more than likely around 432ish hp.
3750/455 = 8.24lb per horsepower. Motortrend puts the 1/4 mile at 12.5 and 0-60 at 4.1 3860/432 = 8.94lb per horsepower. Motortrend puts the 1/4 at 12.7 and 0-60 at 4.3 Now, if you were to ONLY add hp to the 5th gen, you would need about: 3860/470hp = 8.21lb/hp. This is a vacuum comparison, not including gear ratios and driver. For curiosity, let's say we remove 100lbs from the 5th gen. 3760/432 = 8.7lb/hp. 3760/457= 8.23lb/hp. The removal of 100 lbs and the addition of 2hp (in comparison to the 6th gen, so 432+*27*hp) under these simple equations, give us an idea of what should be needed to beat it. This is about as accurate as we can get without putting the 2 cars next to each other and comparing mods back to back. Also, I want to add that the 6th gen 1le is manual only as well. Racing a 6th gen automatic ss is going to be a different story because it has 8 gears and shifts insanely fast. You will need more power as that 8 speed is going to drop him back into the sweet spot of the band, better than our 6 speed. Last edited by 6low; 05-11-2020 at 11:04 AM. Reason: more info |

Wow this was pretty good quality information that you shared here! I do appreciate this. And by the way I must say your 5th gen 1LE in your avatar pic looks really nice especially in the summit white. I think they look best in that color. The 5th gen 1LE IMO does look better than the 6th gen 1LE. I sat in a 6th gen 1LE (2017) and it was way too small as well. |

Not sure about the new 1LE performance gains over the SS.
having said that, a bolt ons 5th gen 1LE edges the 6th gen SS
