Radio swap from another Camaro.

If I get a radio with 5 disc changer & bezel from another Camaro, will I need
to enter a code to use it?

Step 1: Start the vehicle and turn on the radio.

Step 2: Press and hold preset numbers 2 and 3 until a three digit code appears on the
radio display. Write this code down.

Step 3: Press the AM/FM button. Your radio will display a second three digit code.
Write the second code down. You will now have a six digit code.

Step 4: Call the Chevy Radio Code phone line at 1-800-537-5140. Enter 106010
followed by the # key to direct you to the radio code retrieval system.

Step 5: Enter the six digit code you retrieved in steps 2 and 3 followed by the * key.
They must be in order. You will be given a four digit radio code. Write down the radio
code.

Step 6: Start your vehicle and turn on the radio. Using the Minute and Hour buttons,
enter in the four digit radio code to your stereo system. Press the AM/FM button to
unlock your stereo.

Does that work?

My radio recently quit working. New radios are discontinued and no longer available from Chevrolet. I purchased a refurbished exchange unit from a local dealer. When I installed the new unit everything on the display and controls were working except the radio. It said calibrate across the display. I found out that the Camaro has a theft deterrent feature and it must have the VIN programmed into the unit in order for it to work. The dealer reprogrammed mine, it took about 45 minutes and they charged me $75. Works great now.

Oh well, I could have gotten a real cheap radio with 5-disc changer, and a
bezel, but I am not paying another $75 for programming.

You went through the same process a lot of have and some of us just said the heck with it and went aftermarket. The first kits looked crappy but the recent kits they’ve come out with look as good as or better than stock and you can get all he new goodies like CarPlay and get better sound. If you shop carefully you can have a new head unit and install kit for about $500. Not cheap but better and cheaper than the alternative of going with a stock unit.
