NEED is such a subjective word sometimes. Will it run for a long time without it...sure. If you don't add one is something abnormal going to happen...no. Well my theory is oil isn't supposed to be in my intake and since I get a few oz of oil from my catch can when I dump it, then I am sure my car is better off for it.

Treated my babe to an oil change today.
Got scammed one last time a couple of months ago... 120 bucks for a 10 minute oil change. So I decided to do it by myself this time. Wasn't that hard actually. Plenty of guides on the web to help you out. BTW after reading about it in the guide above, I'm seriously considering investing in an oil extractor. Changing the oil without getting under the car... it has a certain appeal let's say. What do you guys think? |

I would prefer to let the oil run out thru thru drain plug and let gravity carry out anything i would not want to remain stuck to the bottom of the pan. Besides it gives me a good reason to look around while i'm under there.
Magnetic drain plugs are a good idea and easy to make.

Changed the diff oil - for the 2nd time in 2 months. Used my beloved Amsoil last time and it developed a pretty nasty growl when cold, on turns. Bit the bullet and paid dealer prices for OE oil and additive. Used Redline additive first time. Maybe shouldn’t have... all good so far.
