Sorry but if you get to that point, then you need new tires. IDK maybe I've been lucky the past 20+ years with the countless number of tires I've plugged.

Over the last 30 years I have had great luck with just plugs. But to be fair, this is the first vehicle I have had that always gets top quality tires.

One thing a plug does is make the hole bigger... even wearing down the tire half way still wears the plug too. Can't tell you how many slow leak tires I've fixed where an old plug was leaking. But at least you get the warning of a slow leak. They do serve a purpose if on the road and can't take the tire off but a patch plug fixes it for good. |

If done properly, a plug and chemical vulcanizing cement will last just as long as the tire.

You have to take the tire off the rim to patch it, so you can't PATCH and PLUG a tire.
When done right, all you need is a plug, it wears with the tread, and there should be a good 1/2" of it inside the tire. Plugs were made for punctures, not tears. Anything over a 1/4" hole, you may not be able to use a plug. I go through 1 kit a year with the miles I run. NEVER had a plug fail. |

The patch-Plug is installed from inside the tire after inspecting the interior and carefully preparing the inside surface.

Plugs only, NEVER a failure, never any leaks. I guess I am special.

Jinxed by the thread!
Plugged it, ONLY A PLUG, and it ran 300+ miles, no drop in tire pressure.Even with the bolt in the tire, I got no drop, I watched the TPMS screen. That was even a blunt end bolt, no sharp tip. This is the sixth time I have gotten a tire puncture in the alley-way since the junk-man moved in about 5 car lengths down the alley... |
