That is exactly what I would do in his situation. He already has a very expensive complete system. Just add those J-Pipes and he is golden.

That's what I put on my '10 SS L99. Great sound, no drone at any rpm.

^^^^ This. Corsa is a bigger name brand than Solo, but I LOVE my Solo catback. If you give Steve from Solo a shout I bet he'd make a system with 3" instead of 2.5" and still be cheaper than Corsa. I have their mach xl catback behind Kooks catted long tubes and it sounds great! I was cruising on the highway yesterday in mine and thought the car sounded way too quiet on the highway. Of course when I get on it the thing is beastly. My wife even commented on how good it sounded on a video clip from a birthday cruise I did yesterday.

I could not find anyone to do my truck J-pipe either. I put on a muffler that droned so bad my head wanted to explode going 70. I finally said get it off and give me a factory quiet one.

Same thing here. No one knows what a J pipe is. I explain it and they say sure I will weld that on for you. Not exactly the level of expertise I am looking for to work on my baby.

That alone has me leaning to a new exhaust to handle my drone. I can get an exact fit Borla or Corsa and install myself.

Lol my exhaust guy said nearly the same thing. Except he also told me to make sure I bring my own hole saw!

I just don't understand how some of these guys can be in the business for 20-30 years and have never heard of J Pipes. But I guess their bread and butter is replacing factory exhausts with aluminized mild steel and replacing tail pipes and hangers for old people.

There are just not enough true performance exhaust shops that can actually bend and weld their own stainless.

I agree with you in having more interest with just factory replacements/bolt on stuff. First shop I talked to actually made a custgom exhaust for my 64 chevelle when I was 17. I'm much older now :p Figured they did such a great job then that it shouldn't be a problem. Had zero interest in bending pipes and was not too interested in giving me a concrete price if I bought the solo pipes to him and having him weld them on. I did eventually find a shop that has bought parts from our Dealership that says he can make whatever I need if I can just show him some pics of what I want. He had put a j pipe on a Vette at one point. So at least he was familiar with what it was. Im going to talk to him next week. Now hopefully he doesn't blow me out of the water with his prices
