Serp/AC belt
After leaving a bracket race the previous Sunday, I come to find out that when I got home that my Serp/AC belt came off and I had a oil leak. I took it in to a local service shop and they told me that the belt got wedged in between the crank and the crank seal which damaged the seal and caused the leak. I'm getting a new belt and seal installed and they're cleaning up the oil on the engine for me.
My question: Is the Serp/AC belt's only purpose to run the AC or does it also run some other minor stuff? Can I get away with leaving this belt off to save some money and avoid it possibly happening again? Will it hurt anything besides having no AC? I don't really drive it, I just do some bracket racing on the weekends spring-fall. Thanks |

The AC belt just runs the AC. The serpentine belt runs the rest.
