This car due to the vis requires you be very careful where you put it. Some tires to in fact have a little more lip on them by my experience but none will save you from a curb.

I adjusted my side mirrors so that when I have to park or go next to a curb, whenever I don't see the road in the mirrors and only the curb, I won't get any closer. I always end up around 6-7 inches from the curb.

Never scratched a wheel.

I know how to drive as well.

That's a bogus statement - it has NOTHING to do with the visibility in the car.

The fact is that tires shouldn't be substituted for curb feelers, and curb feelers are a safety net at best anyhow.

I take the time with every new vehicle I purchase to "get a feel" for what I can see versus where the edges actually are. With the shrinking parking space size we are seeing today (because cars are genuinely getting smaller), operating a larger vehicle (like a full sized pickup or even the Camaro) requires learning how to read the sight lines.

I have under 400 miles on my car at this point, and am starting to get a sense of the edges of the car. I find myself comfortably pulling into my garage much closer to the door opening on the right hand side of the car simply because I'm learning the spacing and sizing of the vehicle. It takes time, patience, and a genuine interest in learning where the boundaries of the car are.

The suggestion about using bottles is a useful one (since pretty much everyone has empty bottles but not cones). Learning how to pull up very close to them -at speed- is a worthwhile endeavor as well.

Another way to do it is to tilt the passenger mirror down a little and drive through a very large, empty lot and positioning the car as close to the long while line that separates the spaces while you're moving. Then look in the mirror to see how you're doing. Inch over more and more and compare that to what you see along the hood/fender.

There are also things "designed in" to the car that can be useful. Want to stop dragging your front bumper against curbs when you park head-in? Use your mirrors. Yep. You read that right.

When you're far enough into a parking spot, you should be able to see the entirety of the curb UNDER the outside mirror. You don't need to keep pulling in at that point. Again... learn the sight lines.

Hey guys thanks for ideas, I’m gonna try them and practice as u recommend, i especially like the idea of looking under the side mirrors to find when front bumper is close to curb, great place to learn something new, even with the comments of a few jack a—— who think they know more and can out drive jimmy Johnson. You mean to tell me that this isn't the first car you owned that you couldn't clearly see the sidewall of the bottom of the tires from the drivers seat? I thought this problem was exclusive to the Camaro, just like the blind spots...

To be honest, with RS tires there is no wiggle room.

With my Jeep I can just ride up over curbs then back into the street to park without worrying about the rims, and every past car I had allowed me to kiss low curbs with the tires with maybe just a scuff on the rubber, never the rim.

20 inch low profile rims? In the first few months I owned it I cut it too close to a curb that I thought was low enough not to worry about. It was minor, but it was the last scuff I got on a rim.

Trade it in for an Escalade.

Seriously...

There are plenty of places that do wheel repair, and you can also do it yourself. It's a LOT like body work on the car. Take the gouges out, sand, fill deep cuts, sand, prime, paint, seal.

I've had a couple of issues crop up over the years including one episode where the Acura dealership scratched all four of my rims when re-mounting the tires to get the road force balance in spec. The dealerships have good arrangements with mobile wheel repair companies that come right to the lots and do the work there, and if you've spent enough money with the dealership over the years, they may help you get more aggressive pricing on repairs through "their guy".

It only took one small oversight to curb my OEM wheels back in 2018, within a few weeks of owning the car, hasn't happened since... also, it's kinda easy to send poor OP to driving school over the internet

Some of those bank drive-throughs are pretty contorted when exiting. OP, any chance of another bank branch with a straighter drive through? I know around me some have a straight exit.

It's funny... I hadn't really though about it until reading your post. I haven't used a bank drive through in forever. In fact, since going to an online only bank, I haven't used the ATM at an actual bank in at least a decade.

With the impacts from COVID, I don't even use drive through's at restaurants any more because I've pretty much stopped eating fast food.

I’ve started using the outer most drive thru to have only one side to worry with helps a lot, my bank only has drive thru currently and closed the one I normally use, anyways thanks again, love this forum !!!
