Opinion

I found a small tear on the intake hose repaired it with silicone, would that do any good or should I just replace it with a K&N Intake?

I mean if you aren’t strapped for cash during all this bs, I’d get a CAI.

That's fine, but up to you if you want to upgrade.

If you suspect it may still leak, spray starting fluid near the repaired area while idling and listen for RPM increase. Replacement is up to you and the budget. I saw a used stock setup for sale if replacing on a budget.

Here’s a post covering the stock and kit details. I bought a K&N yesterday so I’m working on the same project. V6 for me.

I'd do the CAI and save the repaired intake for the inevitable smog test.
My 2¢
