ADM actually moves the stock MAF sensor INSIDE of the heat shield/air box to help prevent this type of heat soak... or so it would seem. ADM commented on my best 1/4 time AFTER doing the stand alone IAT: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...7&postcount=10

The MAF sensor heats up by conduction. Yes the ceramic refects radiant heat. It also helps with conduction this is why the out side of the tube is hot because it blocking heat transfer. With the outside of the tube being hot, and the sensor being bolted to the outside of the tube, it will tranfer heat into the sensor by conduction.

All im trying to say is if you let any system site for 20 min it will heat soak. When this happens the inside and outside of the tube is hot which makes the air temps go up. Some companies also say the air traveling in the tube has no effect on IAT. If this were ture you IAT sensor would never recover from heat soak.

This issue I'm talking about is when you park the car for 20 minutes and the IAT reads 120 to 140 degrees! Then you drive around which in theory is getting fresh air into the engine bay and intake but yet the IAT is still reading 90 to 100 degrees even when the ambient temp is more like 70... Ok... apparently those who understand what I'm saying understand... and those that don't understand will never understand... If anyone has any questions feel free to PM me... LOL!

its not the initial start up heat soak while running kind of issue...its after its been run, turned off and then turned back on, and the computer still thinks its pulling in HOTT air when in theory its really not..

Yep, you got it! When you restart your car it is measuring the temp of the heat soaked MAF sensor housing NOT the temperature of the air going through the sensor...

i understand what your saying too and what their saying, i would rather get a CAI that moves the thing inside of the heat shield as i do not like voiding my warranty. But for curiosity's sake is it possible GM knows about heat soak and is having their computers already adjust for it. I know your car runs faster when its been moved because its a better position but could that reason be because your car is now overcompensating which could cause problems in the future
