SPEED ENGNEERING HEADERS TO TSP CONNECTION

Do you know if the speed engineering long tubes with fit directly onto the Texas speed connection pipes for their header kit ? i bought them both, speed engineering has a big delay on their off road connection pipes. I’m impatient, so i bought the TSP connection pipes that’s meant for 1 7/8” as well, and i’m connecting them to my NPP stock exhaust.

Anyone know anything on this ? or can help me out

I can't say for sure but since you bought them anyways just do a dry fit to see if it works before trying to install them.

What color is your 1LE? I'm in Miami also and I don't see a lot of 5th Gen 1LE's around. Mostly just 6th Gen's.

Can't help you with that. Redline Motorsports is supposed to be really good though.

You will need to check pushrod length as well when changing a cam. Install new valve seals as well.

I would double check your pushrod length. I bought the BTR3 cam and my intake pushrods were needing a different length from the exhaust to be the same preload on the lifter.

Where did you find just the Texas Speed Connecting pipes ? Im in the same situation with my 1LE. Went to order the Speed Engineering long tubes and saw the connecting pipes out of stock till mid October. I figured Id just get the Texas Speed pipes and hope they work but cant find where you can just buy the pipes without the headers

Hey man, sorry for the late response. I just went ahead and called Texas speed and they gave me a special invoice.

The connection pipe actually fit quite well, Im running them right now. However my mistake was getting crappy clamps, get some nice 3 inch band clamps for the collector side and you should mock up real nice. Also sounds a bit different because from my understanding the speed engineering ones are a little wider in the center of the connection pipe, they create a sort've boominess in person from when I've heard them. This combo sounds sooooo good man, at high rpms it really rips and screams. I had this reoccurring exhaust leak happening from the connection to collector, and the crappy clamp ended kind of crimping the connection pipe and was unable to get fixed, I took it to my local exhaust shop and I smoke tested the whole exhaust system as I'm a automotive technician, there was big leak by the collector and I welded it. I was sick of dealing with it and if I really needed another set of headers, the speed engineering headers don't hurt my wallet that bad and ill just get another set.

I had the same problem getting my TSP headers to seal around the connection pipes also. I removed the pipes and welded a 3 bolt flange to the headers, then had Florida Performance (Rob) weld up a full 3inch exhaust with x pipe and magnaflow mufflers for $700. That was 3 years ago. Exhaust is still in great shape. He does great work. Dixie highway and Commercial blvd.

Did you ever get your cam installed? I've done 2 5th gen cam swaps and two more on Silverados.

yeah man, got the cam installed. I did it myself, put new Melling LS7 lifters, lapped the valves, BTR valve springs with titanium retainers, and a bit more goodies. opened the car up a lot and ended up making nearly 500whp on 93
