Overdrive calculation?
I’m trying to figure out how much overdrive I will be putting on my supercharger ported by Kong’s Performance Greg. I am running a 9.45 lower and a 2.35 upper pulley. Going in for a new Dino this Friday and I was just wondering how much overdrive I’m producing. Any info is much appreciated https://www.camaro5.com/forums/attac...1&d=1596036362

That appears to be approaching 26k...might want to back off a little.

So in total with the upper pulley and lower pulley what do you think the overdrive percentages is? Somebody told me it’s like 50% overdrive combined upper and lower. Do you think this is true?

You will have a pulley ration of 9.45/2.35=4.02
Stock Pulley ratio from Linenfelter Chart 7.8/3.0=2.6 (4.02-2.6)/2.6=55% |

Bingo! Most people run about 38% to 42% maximum. Some push it to 44%, but not many people (ZL1 or CTS-V) go up to 55%!

I've been running 44% for over 7 years.

Damn so what do you think? Do you think I’m in bad shape here.? I seen one other dude doing on the stock bottom man on YouTube and he made 830 to the wheel with stock heads stock bottom end. Do you think I should stop tuning at 5500 RPM?

Thank you man I appreciate that. 55% is a lot. I’m going to hit the Dino this Friday right now we’re at 7:40 to the rear wheel and the only thing that I’ve changed was ATI super damper the 9.45 lower pulley and a custom 5 inch intake with 3 inch exhaust all the way back. Do you think this is a bit much for the car to handle?

Hell no, I'm pushing to 7200 rpm. However, I would step down to a 2.55 upper.

I've stated my opinion. You'll always find some saying they've pushed it to 18lbs. or 26.5k. The safe zone is 15, no more than 16 lbs. and 23k. Period.

I'm running 38% but that's still only 13 psi boost. All else being equal in a good build that's hardly an engine killer.

I may be misinterpreting your comment, but I don't think it's about boost pressure killing the engine. I think it's more about critical speed of the bearings and rotor assemblies killing the blower...and maybe killing the engine.
