I think I agree with this assessment. Instead of incremental repairs it may be time for a full rebuild. Hopefully you don't have any metal shavings or remnants contaminating your newly installed components.

Im in agreement there, something is not right in there and you could be leading into major
damage and a more costly repair if you don't open her up, especially if you already found metal shavings in the oil.

Thanks for all your recommendations. I will be preparing to rebuild most of the top end in hopes of fixing the problem. Thanks. Also, do you know if i should go with a melling high volume oil pump as a stock replacement are there any benefits or trade offs? Thanks in advanced.

Ok I think you should take it out and see if anything else is fubar.Cam bearings rotated.lower end wear etc.

I would do a budget rebuild unless the block is messed up.Change the rod bolts to ARP.get the more robust chain tensioner, new oil pump, springs for the heads etc
Then you know you have a good engine that will last a long time and it will be more robust then a stock one.In case you ever want boost.

I think tearing the engine apart 3 plus times trying to avoid it is more labor intensive and costing you more then just taking it out, finding the problem and fixing it.
