I think the rubber guards are interesting probably a good idea. I wonder how they would affect the functionality of the splitter though? Also after being on the splitter over time the sun might fade the color that is exposed to the elements but not under the rubber. Also the rubber may stick to the splitter over time and when you remove it will leave rubber/residue behind. Just couple concerns I see doing this.
Those rubber strips are great and will hold well if you put them on leave them. I’ve used them in the past at work and if you remove and reinstall quite a bit it will most likely loosen over time not holding as well. Generally can be fixed by squeezing it to tighten again but that may create it not looking as clean or nice it once did.

Here's Trim #1 installed. I like it much better. Hard to see with these two pics taken at night with flash on (got late), so I'll take a few more in the morning. Fit nice and snug and isn't coming off. Thinking of maybe adding a silver accent stripe to the bottom part of it.
More to come... it never ends... |

I installed the previous one last weekend. I was hoping all week it would 'contort' the folds out... its been close to 100 around here. But no luck. Ripped it out and tossed it. Installed the above. Need to get a better look myself in daylight... |

The original made it look a bit shorter for my liking. I took the original small trim off... kept it, coiled it up and put it in a bag. I felt the need to add a more 'accented' trim. I think I'm good now... Thanks for the link. |

Once I have the right one on, I don't plan on removing it... replacing it maybe in the future. But if its a keeper, it isn't going any where. I like this one so far. Functionality is somewhat affected I think. I know splitters keep low pressure airflow underneath, while providing downforce to the front end with high pressure. Downforce shouldn't be affected. Low pressure underflow might be... although hardly noticed unless doing 175 plus, there could be a bit more turbulence. Not planning on getting my car up to that speed any time soon... doing it more for the right look and combo to go with the rest of my ride. |

I gotta say, this Splitter purchase(when it happens), is making me nervous.
This is the front of my Camaro when I bought it(yes I see that stupid dent).Any ideas of which one to buy. I am looking at the same Splitter as Spec.

I'd say any splitter that covers that dent if you're not going to fix that. Maybe PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) could pop it out first, then the sky's the limit. If you're going with a flat splitter like mine, then you'll want to use the supports... otherwise, too much downforce could tear the splitter, or worse - your fascia, clean off at speed. |

I'm liking this trim even more this morning. I'm going to leave it. Its a smaller profile than the 1" extruding rubber one I had on previously. A more subtle look, and I think it goes with the light mods on my ride.
A keeper. Pics below. Fins are next... likely doing this tomorrow if its not too hot. Its been 100, and hearing even hotter today. Pics to finally follow on that. Been brain screwing this splitter too much..... |

Great write up spec. This has me thinking. But I don't have the ZL1 bumper.

I never did install the fins. I'm loving the look without them and enjoying this splitter as is. I've put them away for now... another one of those things I may change my mind about in the future.

Spec, your car looks great. Like that splitter and you did a great job installing it.
