Camshaft L99

Hello everyone!
I have planned to change cam in my Camaro 2012 L99. It is a Com cams 689-422-13, 218 / 230,220 / 232, 115 lsa. Does anyone have experience with this cam? Lopey idle, power gains ... easy to tune ?. I will get longtubes and cai at the same time.

Thanks

That cam seems okay but I'm not sure if it's a VVT cam like you'll need. Keep in mind the L99 motor has VVT (variable valve timing) and the cam needs to be set for this or you'll need to delete it. You'll also need to do a DOD/AFM delete.

If you're not looking to do a torque converter you don't want a big cam. We've had a lot of success with the stage1 GPI cam. 70rwhp gains, really solid chop and the tune simple enough. If you order the cam from us we can ship it to Sweden and even help with the tuning. PM or email us for more details.

That's an AFM/VVT camshaft, at least going by their description. I would be nervous as heck running an aftermarket cam that kept AFM due to those AFM lifters. Are you allowed to alter cars to remove things like AFM in Sweden? Because If you are I certainly would recommend it.

From Summit's description of that cam:

'COMP Cams XFI AFM GM Gen IV camshafts are designed to work with the VVT (variable valve timing) and AFM (active fuel management) components of GM V8 engines. They deliver outstanding top-end power in modified L99-style applications without sacrificing low-end power when properly programmed. Get an increase in performance with the lobe profile of COMP Cams XFI AFM GM Gen IV camshafts.'

Ok, are they really that bad? The afm is disabled in the tune if it matters. According to Swedish law you are not allowed to alter anything. But in most cases you can pass the inspection as long as it is not too extreme. We have to pass smogtest (tailpipe snifftest) and I think it can bee difficult with to big cam. But i do not hope this cam gives to bad emmissions. Juiced1 it sounds great. It’s difficult to find some one in Sweden who has experience in vvt tuning. I’ll email you when it’s time to get started with the car.

Thanks
