You can put it pretty much anywhere on the windshield where the MPs can see it and they wont really care. I dont even think there is a ticket (USMC) for improper display of DoD decal. And, Ive never seen or attempted to write one in 8 years of being an MP. I knew some guys that had it on the inside of their visors and just flipped the visor down to show it. I dont know if that will fly on your base, but being a car guy I didnt care as long as he had the stupid sticker. In fact Ive been in 10 years now and still never once registered a car on base.

I believe the DOD is doing away with the stickers completely as they are now considered a "force protection" issue. Most (if not all) Air Force bases are already using DBIDS and doing away with decals. I guess the other branches are just a little behind...

I've been out the Corps since 1999 and I was stationed on both Marine and Navy bases. It was always suppose to go on the top center but I always put in it in the lower driver's side. No one ever told me anything about it. But as I read on this thread, a lot has changed.

I no longer have to have a sticker on my cars down here at Barksdale AFB, LA. They have been using the DBIDS system for a few months now.

I'm sorry! I can't let this go!
I'm sick and tired of the B.S. and the total lack of respect people have for our military members and their families. It's people like you that get the right to say what they want, and to whom they want, just because of the men and women that form our military and defend this country. Keep it you buddy, you just may be speaking Arabic some day. Besides, I don't hear you bashing the farmers that put food in your mouth!
People in the military think for themselves, alot of the time, outside of the box.

I didn't realize other services still used those. The AF ditched those a few years back. I'm so glad they did. I took mine off the day they weren't required anymore.

What's odd is that here, they use the same system that scans your ID card at the gate, yet require you to register (and put sticker on) your car(s) for entry.
If you don't have a sticker, regardless of your affiliation, you have to go through the inspection line (you never want to do that).

So if you're in a rental or borrowed car that doesn't have the registration sticker on it, but you have a valid DoD ID and reason for being on the installation, you must still have your vehicle inspected and deal with a VERY long wait in the line. Doesn't make a lot of sense to most of us who live or work on the fort...

Are you stationed at Moody AFB at the present? I was staioned there from 1991-1995. My son still lives in that area and is a senior at Lowndes county HS. I was a Security Policeman 308th squadron.

Yep, they are gone from the Airforce. Been at 5 locations in the past 4 years and none of them have them from texas to Florida.... When we did i always put them lower corner of the Drivers side so the hood blocked it from normal site but the guard at the gate could see it. I say place it and have them tell you to move it most wont bother as long as you have a current one.

MaKGRL,
My husband is AD USAF... We have a sticker on the lower left side of the front windshield of our Yukon.. I do not have a sticker on my Camaro...I just use my dependent I.D. to get on base....

On another note, I am sorry for your loss. It is disheartening to me when IGNORANT people get on a soap box and proceed to spew bullshit out of their mouths when it is clear that they have NO CLUE. I had a good friend who was KIA one week before he was to go home to his family... My husband flies to Iraq and Afghanistan an average of once a month. I Have SO MUCH respect for military members and their families. There will always be people out there who THINK they know, when they really don't. Keep your head high and brush your shoulders off

Sorry for the rant, but felt it needed to be said

Have you ever tried to remove one of those? I took mine off my old car when I sold it for the new Camaro...spent over an hour with a razor blade and still couldn't get all the glue off. Maybe there's some magic solvent that will work, but I have not gotten a new one to put on my car and will not until someone says something to me (we're supposed to have them but it has not been enforced lately).

I've always seen it on the bottom driver's side of the windshield. Not sure if that's correct, but that's where my uncle has his.
