Cheaper Brembo 2 Piece Rotors

I found this on Rockauto.com.

Brembo now has their own aftermarket 2 piece ZL1 rotors. They look identical to their same 2 piece rotors they supply GM with.

I have purchased them and they have the same vent design, vane count and the same hat and fasteners The finish looks the same.

BREMBO #09A66523 Right

Prices sometimes change on RockAuto, but they are currently about $170 each, compared to the GM sourced Brembos at about $290

It is possible that the cast iron is different, but everything else looks to be the same. As I mentioned, I have purchased a pair . I track my '14 1LE with the 6 piston front brakes and have no reservations with using these on track. They very well could be 100% identical but without the GM price surcharge.

These rotors have been on eBay the last few weeks priced just over $200 with free shipping. Was considering a pair myself for back up.

Brembo 09.A665.13 and 09.A665.23 (note the dots, as they could important when cross-referencing parts) are the original rotors to which GM and AC Delco then assigned their own part numbers. These are revised, upgraded yet original, rather than aftermarket parts, and are high carbon content disks.

For the 5th generation Camaro, GM engineering provided the specifications and contracted Brembo for the brake subsystem. Therefore these are the original equipment manufacturer parts as they come on a brand new Camaro.

I just installed these on my ZL1 not two months ago. Since you take your Camaro to the track, you probably know this already but for the benefit of everyone else, once the rotors are replaced, the burnish procedure should be performed, otherwise the brakes will not operate correctly and could be damaged during driving on the race track or during aggressive braking in general.

If the burnishing procedure has been performed correctly, the disks must be dark Grey, bordering on Brown, which means that the transfer of material from the brake pad to the rotors took place and that a thin layer of the brake material has been correctly fused with the disks' surfaces. The burnishing procedure is documented in the owner's manual, under "Driving and Operating", section 9-7.

While not directly pertaining to the burnishing procedure as documented in the owner's manual, after replacement of the pads and rotors with the above quoted parts I found the following video to be informative to understanding the concept:

Here’s a picture of the boxes. They show the dots. The part numbers on my original post were copied from RockAuto. They don’t normally show dots in part numbers on their site.

...Which is why I mentioned it. Brembo uses two dots for its part numbers.

Also note the "HC" option on the boxes, which stands for "high carbon content". Next to last icon indicates ultraviolet coating.

Really Brembo did a splendid job designing and implementing the brake system on the Camaro ZL1. The only ding on them is that their parts information isn't fully exposed nor do they have international web shops to order all of the parts from their parts database. The web shops they do have are half-assed attempts at some sort of electronic commerce, but since most searches yield very few parts, it is unclear what they are trying to achieve. For example, their European sites all want to direct the prospective buyer to a dealer, but the authorized dealers are all car repair shops instead of parts stores, making the experience really frustrating. One would think that it is in their best interest to have the best search capabilities and directly as many of all the parts they design and build, but no.

I had a hell of a time finding the part number for their DOT 5.1 brake fluid, and I only learned of it by accident when researching 09.A665.13 and 09.A665.23.
