Was wondering if it had to be an OEM key or not? Some reviews say they deprogram after a few days.

I read somewhere that people had issues with the trunk not opening on some replacement fobs also.

Was considering this one also for $50 which is OEM supposedly.

What broke? Key or fob. Just swap the circuit board from the old fob to the new one. Get a key cut, if needed, from the blank provided. Wind the spring before assembling. Easy. Used an eBay fob shell. Used my key and circuit board.

I’ve got an extra one without the blade I’ll send you if that’s what you need. You’ll need to reprogram it and put your key blade in it.
Pm me if your interested.

The blade snapped I do not have it anymore. Im sure using it to manually open the trunk through the back seat didnt help. Its very hard to turn that lock. I actually know more than one person that had theirs break off in the ignition.. the fob itself is also a little cracked and battery dieing. Already purchased a new OEM one. I see the blade sold individually but guessing you need the rivet to. What bad engineering lol. Have already had the pleasure of replacing the A/C door..

Push button start would’ve been great. My 18’ Silverado didn’t even include that.

Good luck

As for cutting, these keys require a special side cutting machine which your normal hardware store won't have. When I was looking at getting a replacement cut a couple years ago, only 1 GM dealer within 100 miles of me could cut it and there wasn't any lock smiths that could. Ended up just exchanging the blades, they are only held on by a small roll pin.
Be careful using a punch to get the pin out. I found out it’s hollow and if don’t use the right side punch it will just go through the pin and it will be impossible to get out without tearing up the blade. I did two of these recently. One went perfectly and the other one I destroyed the blade and had to have a new cut but it was only $10 at the local GM dealer.

Car and truck remotes is good. Bought two keys off them. Only thing you would need to do is cut them to match your current key
