I watched a YouTube video and although nothing is known yet, he said that GM is trying to only use like 5 platforms in the future. The new platforms won't be available until 2025. So either Chevy can extend the 6th gen for a few more years or discontinue soon and revive at that time if they choose. I would look at Camaros in the past and almost bought a few but would always get cold feet. Usually wanted more room. Had a few trucks and a G8 as well as a 14' SS would win out over the Camaros at the time. Finally got the speed itch and bought a 15' Camaro. I like the look of the 14-15's better. I like the tail lights and vented hood and smaller grille.

My 13 reminds me of my 67.

For me it falls short in looks and it all starts up front. The only 6th gen model I like the front fascia is the ZL1. The rear end isn't any better. I do think the 6th gen tail lights are slightly better than the later 5th gens but the 10-13 tail lights are the cats meow for me. The random badge locations is a more minor thing that makes me scratch my head. Overall I just think they are a watered down version of the 5th gen aesthetically.

I agree with all of the opinions about the 6th gen not having much of a road presence. They seem to blend in with the crowd unless it's a ZL1, but I damn sure almost snap my neck when a clean 5th gen passes by. Since I drive a work vehicle 5-6 days a week, I always want to poke my head out the window and yell "I have one too!" when I see one. I had a 2011, and now a 2014, and I will say I do prefer the looks of the vented hood, and tail lights of the 14 over the 11.

Unless you're driving a 6th gen 1le or zl1 you do not get noticed. The an SS and below cars have zero road presence. The body lines are not as pronounced as the 5th gen. The 5th gen is the last Camaro that looks like a true muscle car. Fat ass and wide hips make it stand out from the crowd. I don't mind the 6th gen but to me it's not really a classic looking car like the 5th gen.

1969 Camaro !
The cover of every other hot rod magazine in the day. How many subscriptions did you have for the various mags. If you knew the date they would hit the newstands and go you were as much a fan as myself of muscle cars. You got what you could afford and various stages and changes in life made other car choices more practical. As a stereotype buyer, also mentioned in other posts, when I could get a fantastic "1969" without repairs and far better in every way it was time to buy. In reading the mags and pictures I was set to buy a L99 2010 but the 400hp at the crank felt less than I could pay that much $$ for and didn't want to venture into non-smog and warranty voiding upgrades on a brand new car. I think the car magazine generation won't be a primary market for future cars. I'd guess GM will have a 4door and throw an Imapala or Chevelle sticker on it if that helps sales. Or if it's too retro for the millenials call it an Chev-Xboxx or whatever. The big three have been about to get rid of all cars in favor of crossovers suv's and trucks for some years now. I think a 7th gen would be a monsterous money loser. GM could help itself by putting the 100million R&D from a 7th into their small and midsize crossovers. They need to be better to be competitive! The new Corvette is a hit but I don't think they are getting the numbers to the dealers to capitalize on sales. Reminds me of the Fiero when it came out. Scalping and not available. |
