Back to the shop she goes.....

1st day of spring, and revved her out to 7k. Quick 40-140 pull, and front main seal/crank seal is leaking. Race car problems.

Just to add... Service Power Steering just kicked on. No ABS or other codes popped on.

Any ideas what could’ve caused this? Read some old threads, and it could be battery, or a-bunch of other things. Maybe the oil messed with the alternator?

How’d the front seal blow ? Too much crank case pressure ?

Good question. No idea. I have the Mighty Mouse wild catch can, which is suppose to alleviate that.

Wow that six bro. I agree it does sound like crankcase pressure. Have them look over your vacuum lines to make sure the crankcase has enough ventilation.

I have the wild catch can setup too, so I thought that was enough. Needless to say wife was not too thrilled after. Lol

Been reading threads all night, and some say put a breather cap without the check valve. However, with that option might have to get the car retuned since it might run lean (I think)z. I’m curious how/why my power steering went out too. Was going 60 on a long sweeping turn, and damn thing got real tight.

Fwiw, I had an issue where I pinched the wires to the steering rack when I reinstalled the engine, maybe look there to see if it just took some time to wear through.

I have this breather on my engine per a couple of recomendations on this forum, of course I have the Holley tall valve covers, but they have them for the stockers too. Also check your connectors for your power steering..

I second the C-F-M breather. It's good peace of mind. Has the front cover been off for any repairs recently? If it's only the front seal, I'd look at front cover alignment as well.
