Different strut gap please help

So I just noticed today that my drivers side top hat of my strut has a bigger gap than my passenger. I can fit my whole thumb under the gap where as on the passenger side my thumb gets stopped at my fingernail by the top hat. Something is definitely off just wondering if anyone would immediately know what it is based on that. I did a bounce test where I push on either side of the car and each side seems to have the same give and settle. As in neither one is supper bouncy. I’m also getting a steering wheel shake at 50 and beyond so wondering if this could be related. I’ll upload pictures tomorrow to better describe what I’m talking about

Were the wheels turned? those caps always have a space and the space changes depending on which way the wheels are turned. If both wheels were straight, and its that big of a difference then yea, maybe something is up

Yeah they were straight. Something is definitely up. Just don’t know what it would be. Bad strut mount maybe?
