Stroker motor inbound!

So the ole L99 is going into my dads 78’ camaro! The day started off with me and him going to pick up my rod mod intake to the guys at the shop getting him to LS swap his car. He asked what it would run to build him a nice 6.0 or 6.2 and I said take mine as a joke.... he bought the L99 and 6l80 to swap into his 78. 6l90 and 427 stroker should be a nice 1-2 punch. I know I’m going to need a 1-piece driveshaft to fit the 6l90 to the SS rear end but other than that, is there anything needed for the trans swap. The 3.91s are going to have to go as well. Any other little rod bits needed? Input is appreciated.

NO I’m not doing a turbo 400 or 4L80. I like having 6 gears.
I’m getting an LOD X1, the rod mod was cheap and I wanted to see the difference before I put the LOD on.

Be interested to see your results, should be good. 6l90 will need a few extra parts but nothing crazy. Been about 4 years since I looked into the swap.

Hmmm, they must have changed the default color, used to be you could choose red or black crinkle coat for a color, I had to ask for mine to come"raw" so I could PC it. I had mine done at a local shop to match the car color, and believe it or not, only cost me 75 bucks!!! Did the valve covers for 55 bucks!! Polishing would be a time consuming thing I think, Black might be the color of choice unless you have a theme going on under hood like I did. Good luck and enjoy the new performance it offers!!

Shifting into 5th at 115-120 is not suitable for the street. Perfect for the strip, but they’re too much for a 40-60 to 130-150.

That's why I haven't wanted to change mine. The stock gear works just fine with the 4200 off the line, and I can carry it out the back door on top end!! She's just a street car.. lol.
