Kscott46: Is it possible for you to get a sound clip up? Thats one of the combos I am thinking of going with once I get my car. It would be greatly appreciated! (sorry for thread jacking)

Yea I'll see what I can do tomorrow, I only got a digital camera so well see how it sounds. Trust me though you CAN'T go wrong with the combo.

As you have all mentioned, and I have tried to tell anybody that will listen....The Roto-Fab intake is amazing. In my opinion is it the best option available right now.

I will say that I would like to see an intake tube made for the Magna/SLP supercharger kit soon. That way you can have a perfect fittinh tube and the Roto intake!!!

Here is a short video clip on the dyno. Even with the hood closed and the whine of the dyno, you can here what the intake sounds like. It has a great sound under acceleration with no loud or annoying sounds at cruising speeds.

There are a few other Roto-fab intake clips on youtube inlcuding one with Corsa exhaust.

Definitely right about the sound. And thanks for the info cause that is actually the other combo I was thinking of going with! Well back to the product, I hadn't heard of Roto-Fab until the G8 came out and since then I've heard nothing but good about the product and customer service. Thanks for making a great product, hopefully I'll have one on in the future!

Also, do you guys have a CF intake too? If so, is it just CF look or real CF?

We use carbon fiber hydragraphics for the finish. The tube itself is the same as our standard intake. After the graphics are applied, a generous clear coat goes over top for a deep shine. We plan to offer the MAF housing in the CF finish as well. We do have one in the field already.

I installed the Roto Fab CAI on LS3 and I have been following Darin's break in technique on another thread. No other mods. At 500 miles I put her on the treadmill. Unfortunately I don't have a stock baseline, but the results were quite satisfactory with only the CAI...384 max horses and 383 torque.

However, with the amount of soot she is spitting I suspect it is a very rich mix. I am about to install a Borla Catback and American Racing LT's with High Flow Cats (thanks ZZ!), then Tuning immediately afterwards and back on the treadmill.

Between Roto 1 and ZZMotorsports couldn't ask for more in advice, customer service and products. Very committed and knowledgeable professionals. Thanks!

Roto-fab CAI LS3 dyno results

Well, we spent another Friday on the dyno, this time with an LS3 car. First, I would like to thank Bob and Brent at EPP for squeezing me in their schedule...again. Also, I would like to thank Dave for allowing us to test with his car. FYI, the car was completely stock before adding the Roto-fab CAI system. I don't have all of the information in graph form at this time, so I will inform you on some pertinent numbers as I explain the testing.
In addition to HP and torque, we monitored all of the same numbers as our last test session. This time we tested the stock intake first as it was already on the vehicle. The stock intake peaked at 369.1 HP and 368.5 ft/lbs torque. Avg HP was 342 and avg tq was 287.
Along with a head to head comparison of the intakes, we also experimented with our MAF housing entry. We molded a "test plug" which would allow us to experiment with the air presentation to the MAF sensor. Our theory was if we were seeing some turbulence at higher RPMs due to the entry of our original MAF housing configuration, we would see the difference (improvement) with our plug. The first pic shown below is our original MAF housing entry. The second pic is the test plug, the third is the test plug inserted in the MAF housing.

The first pull with the Roto-fab CAI was performed with the plug in place as it was easier to install outside the car. We would later be able to remove it to test our original configuration. The first test was started after only a few minutes on the dyno to reach coolant and oil temps. During this pull, fuel trim was +.8 which is identical to the last stock intake pull. In spite of that, our peak HP was 378.9 with a peak of 392 ft/lbs tq. However, we did see high knock numbers on this run though-5.9 @ 6k. Next, we ran a 7 minute drive cylce on the dyno going through the gears and mixing up the RPMs. We then drove a few more minutes to reach our test temperatures before starting the pull. After all of the dyno driving, our fuel trim # was +3.9. This pull had a peak HP of 383 and 376 tq. The knock #s went way down and power numbers further increased after our drive cycling. We then removed the plug and made another pull. Our peak HP and torque remained the same.
The next several pulls involved testing with/ without our plug and performing drive cycles in between for "learning" time of the different configurations. At best, we saw an additional 2 HP with our test plug.
Here is a summary of our results:
----------Peak HP--------Peak Tq--------Avg HP---------Avg Tq
Stock------369-------------369------------342-------------287
Roto-fab---383-------------376------------354-------------297

With the Roto-fab system, we saw a peak gain of 14 HP and 8 ft/lb tq. with an average gain of 12 HP and 10 ft/lb tq. Again, these are numbers very consistent with what our customers have stated.
Our test numbers were quite consistent with both the stock intake and the Roto-fab, so I am very confident they show accurate results.
I know Ted did some driving/learning in his testing, but I don't recall the exact drive cycle times. I do know his tests did show the changes in fuel trims. We did have the actual MAF housing Ted used in his testing, but time restraints kept us from installing it. Instead, we opted to use the MAF housing we already drilled to accept our test plug. We felt there was more to be learned by testing entry. As a result of our testing, we are making some improvements to the MAF housing. Although I don't expect these changes to account for the differences in our dyno #s vs Ted's, I hope he is willing to test the new piece and report his findings.
I will be posting more info as well as a dyno sheet showing the avg. gains. Also, we have video of both the stock intake and the Roto-fab which will be posted on youtube. When we have both the LS3 and the L99 cars on youtube, notice Dave's car (LS3) is the one with the black ground effects. It's worth mentioning since both cars are yellow.

Our testing showed max HP almost identical to what you came up with.
