Cammed ZL1 misfires
Alright, new to the thread, and new to camaros as well. So forgive my ignorance. So I recently Cammed my 12 ZL1 (BTR STG3), all was good during break in and we followed everything to the t on assembly utilizing the LS benchmark build guid I bought off of Amazon. During break in everything ran as it should with signs of anything being out of place. After break in and oil change I got the go ahead from my tunner to start tunning and send her on home. Under WOT in any gear it would start misfiring under boost at 4 K, she was breaking up bad. We did all we could to locate the issue, check fuel spark air, checked ground, made a dimple in headers to clear steering rack, and a few other things. How ever she was still misfiring. I ended up replacing the SC isolator coupler as she went bad shortly after. Once I reistalled with Lifeinger coupler the engine started misfiring on idle, and under any load she would just bog down. The throttle also on a flat surface has to be about 10% engaged to move. I’m really lost at this point and I have literally no information on where to go from here. I need help bad 😅

Check the tune, and obviously, bad plugs or wires.

1. Are you datalogging at all?
2. Is it a random misfire, or isolated to a cylinder or two? 3. Have you performed a compression test on all 8 cylinders? 4. What plugs and what's the gap? 5. Are you losing any coolant from the intercooler reservoir? -Scott |

After installing a cam there are parameters in the tune that must be taken into account using the specs of your cam. Your valves are opening differently than stock now. |

Ok so since I don’t have the laptop for tuning (it’s my buddies) i haven’t recently checked parameters, I will get it here shortly and set up to read each cylinder for misfires.
Plugs are gapped to .035, TR6IX, brand new wires as well. I have an extra set of plugs that are brand new that I can swap in. Just wasn’t sure if that would be the issue. Have not performed a compression check but I probably should, I’ll try these things and get back, I appreciate the response ! I have a few videos of it running I can upload I just don’t know how to upload them. |
