Coming up on 100K Miles....

...and can't seem to find a reasonably priced replacement.

My '13 SS is a daily driver. I put 50 miles on her every week day going to and from work. I love driving my 5th gen for the reasons we all do. But the miles I have put on my baby have been hard miles. I'm a pedal to the metal kind of guy and always use that passing power any time I have an excuse to do so. I hit 100-110 mph on a regular basis coming home from work and I usually hit it hard and fast.

Just a year ago, these cars were for sale all over the place. I turned down a silver and black 2014 1LE about 8 months ago because I thought it was too high priced at $22K. It had 43K miles on it. Still kicking my own ass over passing that one up.

The prices on these cars, when you can find them at all, is really jacked up right now. Great for the seller, bad for the buyer!

Only one and I wouldn't call it major. I replaced the lower control arm on the passenger side in December. Bought a Moog for about $45 on Amazon and paid the son-in-law the going rate in Bud-Lite to knock it out in about 45 minutes.

The car has treated me very well.

Ha! Thanks. There's a lot of history behind that hat. It's so worn out now though, I just keep on a hook in the hallway these days.

It looks like you are from Sweden? When I lived in the FRG (West Germany) in the 1980s, I had a good friend who was a member of the Swedish Corvette Club. The Swedes seemed to have more Corvettes than all other countries in western Europe combined.

would it be so wrong to keep the trusty old steed and invest in whatevers needed down the road? assuming no damage or major visible wear it might be cheaper to keep her.

I've thought about that too, but right now there just isn't any reasonably priced inventory.

Awesome pic Danial! Unfortunately mine sits more than anything these days. It’s good for the odometer though! I agree it’s crazy how expensive used cars as a whole have gotten in the last year, it also seems that it’s getting a little harder to find low mile 5th gens as well. Most of the ones I’m seeing for sale are 60-70K+. The ones I used to see all the time with less than 20K miles are bringing a premium now.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. And to give you an example on how the market has changed, I was offered $12,500 trade about a year ago and when the car had just hit 80K miles. Very recently, I was offered $17,700 when I was looking at a truck and it has 97K miles on it now!

101850 on my 2012 2LT. They are meant to be driven. Kind of like a fine shotgun. That’s how I see it anyhow.
