My Son is the one who listed them on the Gen5 Facebook page. He was getting frustrated with the rookies so I suggested we list them here. Thanks for the support over there. Such a shame there is no moderator to stop the harassment but that's how it goes I guess.

Sorry if I am a rookie but would you educate me on the difference between Z28 and ZL1 calipers or brakes?

Z28 are carbon ceramic rotors
ZL1 are “steel” rotors
Both are the same # of pistons( 6 per caliper front and 4 per caliper rear)
Z28 are single piece calipers, a few benefits
ZL1 are 2 half calipers bolted together
The Z28 new pads are $500-1k per set
If my memory serves me the Z28 caliper pistons are vented to improve heat transfer.

There’s probably more that I’m missing

Thanks so much for that very detailed explanation. I put a lot of research into doing the 6 piston upgrade on my 1LE even looking at the ZO6 option but never had the Z28 brakes come up except for the brake ducts that I just got.

The brakes on the Z28 are larger than those on the ZL1, I never got to compare the two side by side. A friend had Z28 brakes but sold them a few years back but I do recall them looking larger than the ZL1 brakes I have right now.
