Camaro6 yes, Camaro5? No. I was the first to post the video of how easy it was to load clubs in my CTF when there were doubts it could be done.

the average age of a camaro buyer is mid 50's ...so caring bout golf tracks.

and if you ask the fans, their main wants and suggestions are always more and more power...yet those same people will tell you that the camaro is already a better performer than all it's competition - competition which is beating the camaro fairly soundly.

I like the low roof, the height of the car is not the problem, my 3rd and 4th gen were lower. It's the belt line being so high. Lower the belt line so that it is comparable to 4th gen and you will have solved your visibility issues without having to make the car taller and get the driver away from the ground (getting away from the ground is bad for a performance car where you want to feel like you're going fast without having to really go fast)

the trunk is ...meh. camaro has had comparatively poor trunk space since 3rd gen hatchback days. I can fit all my beach gear (tent and chairs coolers etc) in there and all my paintball gear (enough for two people) in the trunk. I only have to drop to the wife's charger if we're going kayaking or ikea etc.

that high beltline is probably the #1 turn off facing the car.

it needs to be lowered like maybe 2-3 inches to really open up visibility to something most people would find comfortable. If that means ditching the big v8's ..then it would be worth it from a sales point of view. There's gotta be some v8's in their lineup that aren't as tall. though, i suspect it's not entirely engine oriented as to why the platform has such a high beltline.

The Camaro does beat the Mustang and Challenger performance wise though. Not by a lot. Mustang GT is nearly as fast as the SS but overall it's slightly faster.

Surprised at the age being so old. I'd figure younger people would buy them.

However, when you think of it the 2SS new pushes upper 40ks, more for the LE or an 2SS ragtop and even more for Zl1. I'd imagine someone mid 30s with a couple kids isn't going to spend 55k on a 2ss ragtop.

These Camaros, the 2ss trims are not cheap cars anymore.

Maybe around an actual circuit track but a dragstrip or a highway roll that Coyote is going to come around you stock vs stock. You really start to see the advantage the DOHC with a 10spd has over our car that runs out of breath before 6000rpm. Dodges problem is their cars are heavy as hell if they would cut some weight they would probably be the fastest out of the 3.

This! I just learned about this after 1.5 years of ownership. I didn’t have any visibility issues until I was at one of these types of intersections. While the windows being too short haven’t bothered me, they are dangerously not long enough in certain situations.

Also I’m not surprised about the average age of camaro owners. I’m 31 and own an SS but whenever I go to Camaro meets no one near my age has a v8. All the v8 owners are in their 50’s and 60’s (maybe some in their 40’s) The owners in their 20’s do not have v8’s. This goes back to how expensive cars have become versus wage growth and the fact that Chevy doesn’t like to deal the way Ford and dodge do.

Just the view out the back window in the Mustang should shut down this conversation.

But GM put the seat lower, with a slammed roof and raised belt. Look at the drivers eyes relative to each other and to the their cars. This too should put and end to the conversation.

It's not that you can't see out of a Camaro, obviously you can. It's just worse than the competition in this segment.

Now the conversation also depends on what you consider the Camaro to be. Some on this thread excuse the limitations because it's a "Sports Car". Go compare it to a C7 or 8. Yep, even I excuse those cars for visibility because it's what I expect (although you can get 2 sets of clubs and drive to Florida in a C5 and C6 and drive to Florida).

But if you think the Camaro is a Sporty Coupe and should apply to a larger audience then it needs to not have those trade offs or limitations.

As I've said, and pay attention because so many only read the negative, GM traded off all of those attributes for the sake of performance and mass. A 2 inch longer trunk or copied from the ATS would have accommodated 2 sets of golf clubs, and I should say "current" golf clubs because the GM internal test would show the Camaro can. But the tool they use is a circa 1950 canvas Sunday bag with a 43" driver. I know because we showed you could get 2 of them in an XLR with the top down, LOL. But making the car 2" longer would have made it weigh the same as a Mustang. Add in a taller greenhouse and now you weigh slightly more than a Mustang. Could you imagine the crap storm is the Gen6 had come out and weighed more than a Mustang? I sure can.

They could have made the Camaro with broader appeal. They could have styled it to be less polarizing. But from what I was told they ONLY asked the small group known internally as "The Faithful" and when asked what they wanted in the GEN6 the response was simply MOHRRRRRRRR!!!!! And that they got. And almost everyone on this site agrees. But the result is a car with limited appeal to a Sport Coupe buyer where rear seat, trunk room and visibility matter more and in some cases are critical to the purchase.

For me, and it's an opinion, GM made the Camaro an awesome 3rd car, too close to a "sports car". And even without room for my clubs I might have one if I had a 3 car garage. But realistically? If I'm looking at a 3rd car with all of the limitations the Camaro has I'd probably look for a C7 just as much. I think it holds 2 sets of clubs

The Challenger can fit just about 8, literally.

But I am not sure the Challenger crowd is a bunch of golfers

I almost feel the camaro would be more practical WITHOUT the back seats. Visibility I think would definitely improve and the trunk would be larger. These are all things I think performance enthusiasts can easily disregard when buying a sports coupe but the majority of people are not performance enthusiasts. If they were, no one would have bought mustangs in 2016/2017 unless they just wanted to boost the car and make a big horsepower number. I was extremely close to buying a mustang but one day I decided to try the Camaro out and left the dealership with it. I could not say no to that low end torque and nicer base interior. I had no visibility issues when I first got in it as I adjusted my mirrors properly. The only issue I have with visibility I mentioned already in this thread but it is a very rare occurrence.

i wonder how golf clubs fit in the mustang? no idea. they're the exact same length.
we're at the point there's hardly even mid size cars left, let alone large ones. almost everything is an SUV or a CUV or a truck.

my previous car was a pontiac solstice.visibilty with the top up was a heart stopper when merging or changing lanes but it was like driving a go cart.you could fit two les paul or telecaster guitars in gig bags in the trunk if you packed carefully and the top was up.once the top was down you could pack a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich.i recently brought home a full size BBQ grill in my 5th gen although we had to lower the rear seats and put in in the car piece by piece to get it home.i dont know why camaro sales are low but i suspect they are a little higher priced than a compareable mustang or challenger.maybe that has something to do with it.
