Oil cooler options.
I got the car running and back from the tuner. Got some issues to fix but one of them is my oil temp. Its 102 F today and with my stock oil cooler being deleted with an ICT Billet adapter to feed the turbo things got kinda hot. Like 280 degrees hot. What are you guys doing for an aftermarket oil cooler? I'm wondering if an oil cooler adapter for the oil filter will work on our cars? Thanks.

I've been thinking about adding one of these. Haven't researched it yet though.

Mishimoto has a kit for our cars but its almost $600. I think you can peice a kit together for alot less.

The Mishi kit is engineered to work with the OE cooler. I tried it without the OE cooler and with an Autometer oil temp gauge I still had high temps. I was tracking the car, so that was an extreme situation.

It looks like it uses a sandwich adapter on the oil filter is that correct? Also worried about pressure drop did you see any? I'm also wondering if their radiator would drop the oil temp too if I went with it by dropping the engine coolant temp? Sorry for all the questions at once. Thanks

CDB is right. The Mishi is meant to work with the factory setup, not on its own.
I have the Mishimoto kit and it works OK, but it is expensive (wait for cyber Monday and they usually have it 1/2 off). It keeps temps more stable under most conditions, but I also track the car and on a hot day at the track, I see temps around 240-250 degrees. As for oil pressure drops due to the kit, I haven't seen that with mine. It adds about 1 quart of oil to the system. There are plenty of other oil cooling kits on the market, but some require you to delete your factory cooler, which is not the most fun job, so I have heard. It is not hard to build your own kit either. I'm looking to build my own kit with Mishi's new larger fluid cooler: https://www.mishimoto.com/universal-...er-17-sso.html Deleting the factory oil cooling system and adding a Earls oil cooler adapter plate in its place: https://www.holley.com/products/plum...arts/LS0013ERL

I see the side mount cooler adapter has a 212* thermostat. But on a 98* day mine already stays at around 210*. Is that ok or should I want it to be cooler?

There's kits on ebay that bolts to where the factory oil cooler goes. Mines already deleted and i can use the adapter that comes with those kits to supply the feed for my turbo.

Might be worth looking into whether this could work with the 2011.

Why not put the factory cooler back on and use the oil galley on the driver side of the block for your feed? At least you'd get back a few degrees.

The 212 degree thermostat should be perfectly fine. 210ish is when the oil is fully to temp.
If it creeps above 212, it will start to run through the cooler until it's under 212.

210-212ish is what you want for oil temp, to boil off any water or condensation in the oil.
