Yes, in most cases it is the L99 Camaro's with the shitty AFM lifters that go bad, not so much any LS3 cars, they don't have them. Those AFM lifters are the weakest link in any L99 engine, and when they go bad, they make all sorts of noises. I was lucky with mine and never had any issues with them all the way up to 98k when we did the cam swap and replaced them with the LS7 lifters and LS3 conversion. Had the AFM tuned out from 19k when we did the LT's and dyno tune all the way to 98k when they were replaced. Most of the time I beleive it is the lifter plunger that messes up and cause the noises, but haven't heard of any yet messing up the cam lobes. You'd have to check them when you replace them and see how they are worn, if any at all. Good luck
