Not necessarily, both an auto and a manual can be fun.

Doesn't HSV (Holden Special Vehicals) offer plenty off mods, including a Supercharger (a real one not a centrifical) on the L99?

It would be awesome if GM offered a Supercharger as a performance accessory for the L99.

Both can be fun. It really depends on what you prefer and what kind of driving you do. If you're almost exclusively in the city, an automatic might be better because constant shifting can become tedious. If you've got a lot of room, a manual can be fun.

Both will be tunable via Hypertech or HPTuners, as well as several other platforms.

Apparently, the G8 guys are loving their autos, and that's a great sign for future Camaro owners. I remember getting some beef for driving an auto Cobalt. I can't wait to pull up next to a manual Cobalt SS in my Camaro SS RS.
