Well if the interceptors are the 3.5 Turbos they are no slouches.

Yeah they offered 3 Motors a 3.5 NA a 3.7 NA and the 3.5 Eco Boost, the Eco boost would surprise you. We have a couple at work, but manly stuck with Dodge.

There hasn’t been a good police interceptor since the LT-1 Caprice. The Chargers suck. Broken even more than the fords which are fragile as sh!t. The exploaders are even worse than the Taurus. I wish the Tahoe was more affordable.

Have you messed with any of the newer caprices that are cousins to us here and the SS sedan? We’ve got a bunch of them around here. I work with a few retired officers and they all say they flat haul ass.

No unfortunately. The departments I have been with used the federal grant programs for vehicle purchases which limited you to US made vehicles only. We had Impalas which were FWD that were ok, but the move to the bigger AWD Taurus was a welcomed change for most. The Explorer wasn’t bad but had numerous problems. I did prefer the seating position though as I’m just under 6’2”. I retired as a Captain from a city department and worked part time for two small ones to stay active with the state requirements. Now I’m mostly working at the BMW/Mini dealer and doing policing 1-2 days a month.

I Am the Fleet Supervisor, When I started we had 1 Caprice left, and the rest were Ford CV room but slow. We then went to Impalas both body styles and they were cramped but were okay.
In 07 we ordered around 10 RWD Hemi Chargers and the guys really liked them but were had problems keeping Trannys in them which was eventually figured out with a better Oring. In 13 we purchased 4 Interceptor cars and 1 Suv, They went well in the snow but other wise were quite cramped and we the Suv lost a tire on the highway at around 150,000 miles and that was that and the 4 cars I am still using in our Dare program and 1 has 222,000 as we speak, I did loose 1 motor last week at 105 K. In 2015 we went to the AWD Hemi Charger and I currently have around 20 of those in service and we loose a Cam/Lifter here and there but all in all they have been great and I have taken them to 200 K with minimal issue. The biggest issue we have had is the front sub frame rotting in about 2 to 3 years near the cats. I have a mixture of Pick Ups /Tahoes/Durangos mixed in as well. The New AWD Charger is only avaible in 6 Cyl so we'll See I ordered 10 of them as I did not really have a choice. We cover around 1,000 Sq Miles so we get around 3-4 years from a car unless they are in a specialty division.

I’m glad you brought up the pick ups. Again GM is behind as there are plenty of Rams and F150 police vehicles around here but no Silverado’s. The Tahoe is awesome but too expensive. GM needs a police Traverse to get back in the game.

Deleted the license plate frame a few weeks back. Still need to clean it up and get do a little polishing. Waiting for the painted plugs to come in for the holes. I’ve been thinking about just replacing the bumper cover all together and holding on to this one in case I need/want to re use it later.
Before and after

Can I be forgiven now
![]() Quote:
I pulled the rear wheels/tires off this morning and took them in to get the new tires put on. Spent the rest of the day on washing, paint correction, and wax. Looks pretty damn good right now. Of course it’s windy as hell out today so after all that paint work I’m not going to take it out and drive it in a dust storm ![]() Hopefully this week I can get it out and drive it. The weather is supposed to be awesome late in the week.
