Updates...
Installed BAP and removed those CAI's in the wheel wells (3" tubes with 4 90 degree bends) and fit stubby 4" filters right on the turbos. I am thinking this will really improve about and eliminate the power peaking super early (5500rpm). For those with Huron kits wanting to do this, I used K&N RU-2510.

I would run a waterproof filter sock on those if the car is daily/weekend car. You would really hate to suck in water...looks great though!

The car only goes out a handful of times during the summer/fall… only nice weather.

I was using some little Spectre stubbies on mine. Was working fairly well for a short period. Bumped it probably pulling out my driveway on the curb and unknowingly apparently knocked the red filter off the turbo inlet. Turbo ate the red cover. Turbo didn't like the red cover. Spent long time picking red filter chunks out of turbo. Had to send turbo in for minor rebuild. There's a lesson in there.

That sucks.
Mine are tucked up quite high, so unless a rock whacked them on the highway I should be good.

K&N's always seem to crush down like that...never liked them for a direct to turbo application.
Burger Tuning makes some compact air filters that are pretty good quality. |

In fairness to K&N, I had to man handle them to get them up. Those deformities are from me... the car hasnt fired up yet with them on.

My 65's and cold piping sit more awkward and yours. I had to trial and error K&N filter sizes to accommodate my 90* steel bend (same view as yours above). Needed as big of filter area to be able to pull lots of boost but still fit (the smaller one in the picture limited me to 14-15psi, the larger one up to 28psi, but the larger one is still smaller than the one AGP provides with their kits). Still too close to the headers so they cook a bit.

Update... she rips with these stubby filters on! Did a couple quick 2nd gear hits... all over the road with the Nitto drag radials from a second gear punch at only 7psi. She definitely feels alot stronger than before with the CAI's.
Also, ordered ID1700's from RDP. Looking for dyno time in May with the new upgrades (CAI delete, ID1700 and BAP) to see if I can surpass the 989rwhp/1031rwtq @ 20psi.

hi, any updates? I'm putting a Huron Speed twin kit on my 2017 Chevy SS with 6871 1.04ar turbos...so far, everything fits, but IMO the turbos look like they are a bit low. But, nothing is tight and just doing test fits.
Would you mind taking an under pic from the from of the from of the car to see how low the turbo's actually are? Really appreciate it. |
