Is it safe to break in new 416 on old tune?

Motor was ls3 with btr stg4/headers/no cats and tuned. New motor is 416/ cnc heads/ custom grind cam/ 3.91’s. Is it safe to break in in on the old tune before it gets flogged on the dyno?

Thanks in advance!

I’ve also got a BTR4/long tubes/bolt ons tune that I’ll be breaking my 379 in with. My tuner said it’s fine to get some heat cycles in (and make sure I have it all back together correctly!) with the old tune, but no WOT or anything. My engine builder that put the bottom end together said 50 miles for break in, so I’ll probably get like ten in after initial fire up, but the rest will be during the drivability and dyno tuning.

Depends on the quality of the tune but if you did not change injectors or cold air kit you should be fine.

Ted.
