America was founded as a God-fearing nation (fear meaning reverential respect). America has been a spring board for the spreading of the Gospel throughout the world. We have been viewed as the symbol of freedom and power just as the Jewish nation was when they followed Him. In my 60yrs America has continually turned away from Him resulting in the rejection of traditional values and morals. We now have a government that doesn't just accept, doesn't just condone, but ENDORSES many things that God condemns. When Israel turned away they fell, scattered. We've had it so good for so long that we think we don't need God. We think we've done this ourselves for our purposes. Fortunately for me, "they are not all Israel who are of Israel" so I'm not afraid but I pray for my grandchildren.

So a few days ago, our Governor announced that they were looking into a 90 day "vacation" on the state gas tax. 37 cents. It would be paid by the 7 billion dollar budget surplus we had last year. My questions are....if we have so much surplus what are they paying for? With so much surplus money why are we paying tax on gasoline in the first place?

This world is one big ugly chess game & we are just the voiceless pawns that pay the price for the bad moves.

todays cars are cleaner than they have ever been, the problem is there are too damn many of them...and by extension the people who drive them.if covid had killed 75% of the worlds population as it was planned to,there other 25% would have no problem and pollute 75% less...and there would be plenty of gas for them.im only partially kidding here, but you can guess where to draw the line...

That is funny because in America we constantly comment on how half of your income in Sweden goes to taxes.

Certain places in America property taxes are extremely steep where is our sales tax is not as bad.

In Reality I would guess that we pay approximately the same amount of tax for every dollar earned but I’m sure you get a lot more services from your tax dollars compared to us in America.

we spend in obscene amount of money on military and defense instead of using that tax money to better our society and country

I agree about living debt free because it really does make you sleep better at night

So what’s you’re saying is that if we all give credence to the invisible man in the sky who grants wishes and selectively helps people in dire need, gas prices would drop?

Not sure if they have a Costco where you live but if they do, get yourself a membership! In southern Maryland where I live, the Sunoco regular is $4.35...a mile up the street at Costco it's $3.75 And they only use "Top Tier" gasoline which is what GM recommends! Just the savings alone more than pays for my membership.

Thanks for the heads up on that, but we don't have any Costco's around, only BJ's wholesale...

We aren't Sweden. I have 3 pieces of property, two of which have a mortgage.

For my primary residence, 37% of my mortgage is insurance and property tax. For my rental property, it's 51%.

Debt is just a tool, use it right and it helps you. Use it wrong and it hurts you. I recall your interest rates were much higher than ours, but it would cost me roughly $5k a year to pay off my mortgage with no significant change in cash flow. My peace of mind comes from a combination of a safe job and over a year of expenses in very liquid accounts.

Our income tax is graduated based on income but I am around 20%

But our sales tax is where I live is 10%

And most people pay an arm and a leg for health insurance and healthcare costs

Property taxes are based on the value of our house which is around 7000 USD a year for me

Gas is taxed additionally as well… Illinois I think it’s $.59 a gallon
