But what I don't get is why some V6 Camaro owners are so sensitive and feel obliged to explain and rationalize why they got the V6 instead of the V8. I have respect for those who own a LS or LT that admit they "settled" for the V6 for whatever reasons but they really wanted the SS. That's all good.

But for most, if you bought a Camaro, you are a car person, it means you like sportscar/musclecars and if there were no reasons to prevent you from getting the SS, you certainly would have gotten the SS. Sure there is that small % of V6 owners who already have high-hp cars in their stable but they just want the new-look Camaro for daily duties.

I am not a V6 Camaro Hater. I love cars period. If you are happy with what you have, follow Donna's example. I respect that. When you start explaining and rationalizing why you have a V6, it just makes it obvious that you weighed your decision and you found yourself wanting.

Many of us here are true car guys/gals and one thing car guys/gals find annoying.....we find Poseours annoying. (sp?)

I didn't "settle" for anything, I wanted a V6, never ashamed to admit that.

I'm with ya man , im 22 and am saving up for a camaro right now. insurance would be like 3.5 gran a year for the v8. Sure i'd rather have the v8 but the v6 is still one hell of a car with a lot of balls. Look at leno's 2009 sema car. Down the road when you have more money you can throw twin turbos in there and it'll be as fast as the stock v8. Sure it won't have that v8 sound but hopefully they make some good aftermarket exhausts for the v6 that will make it still sound pretty badass.

I'm getting an LS as soon as I find a dealer that isn't retarded. The 1SS was my first idea, but it gets the same gas mileage as my Silverado. I drive 54 miles to work each way, so I like the 29MGP the V6 gets. I don't care about money; I don't have be at the gas station every day. It also has a 6 speed manual transmission. It has more horsepower than the V8 Generation 4 Camaro. There's a lot of good technology in the car, like the direct injection dual overhead cams... what else? Comes with power everything, XM radio, OnStar, cruise control, iPod hookup (+$189). Plus it looks nice with that classic Chevy look.

Now back to the retarded dealers, they wanted $2k over MSRP for the LS. Then when I asked for the PDIM they told me it wasn't available but they could upgrade me to the 2LT. Anyway, I called another dealer and will be ordering from them if they know more than I do about the car's they're selling.

in concept yes, at teh time the z28 was a monster because they didnt built cars as fast as today... in yesterdays standards it was a fast car... in todays standards i just dont think so
I have no idea where you were finding your "average" v6 time, but you need a better source. Say, these forums. UNDER 6 seconds is average. An upgraded exhaust and intake can bring it in under 5.0.

That V6 has a great deal of potential. Put a turbo on it and beat every LSx you can find, even the slightly modded ones.

Ask me how I know about turbocharged V6's...

I bought my SS during an impulsive weak moment, but if I really thought it out, I'd probably have gone for the six, and stepped up to the turbo.

I bet you could build a high 10 low 11 sec V6 if you bought the base, base camaro and did a twin turbo and be at the price of an SS. 10 secs for 30G's

Not sure what your driving record is like or who you use, but I'm 21 and my insurance for a 1SS is about 800 a year. Check out USAA. Covers up to 100grand.
