I guess I will give away my secret, I know my kids don't read this forum.
Nothing will keep the car from being towed. But what I have done (doing) keeps someone from taking my keys and starting the car. The car will not start if my left side dash vent is closed and turned to the 9 o'clock position. Using a micro switch and a 30 amp relay I disable the starter circuit. I am still working out the details with the type of mirco switch. I ordered very small magnetic reed switches that will arrive this weekend. I have already pulled and set-up the relay part of the circuit and am now using just a simple switch that's hidden under the dash. I have done this to many of my cars. On one Honda the lighter (remember them) would complete the circuit. Remove the lighter the car would not start. On my El Camino it was the ash tray. The tray needed to be slightly open to start. Fully close the ash tray the car won't start.

I know this thread is old, but I was searching "2010 Camaro theft prevention." Mine was stolen in Atlanta a few months back, under bright lights, in a hotel parking lot. OnStar is worthless in this instance as they disabled the hardware. It was found stripped a few days later.
I just had a neighbor whos Dodge Challenger was stolen overnight, bright lights, broke out the window, poof. Protect your vehicles - it's getting crazy! |

Does OnStar disable your car? Are do they just track it until the cops get there.

Damn!!! Sorry to hear that CreationNation. I have seen that car thefts have gone up too(gee I wonder why), anyway you also have to have your head on a swivel when you get people that actually just want to compliment your car then take it(happened to my cousin 2 years ago). I was thinking of trying this:https://www.ravelco.com/product.html. Now, I do have the chevy login app, when I'm in a store, I log in, locate it in the lot I've parked. Keep looking down at my phone about 56000 times to annoy the wife
, and if there's any movement, I'll shut it down. I believe it's 50 bucks monthly. Also have cameras hidden so it's something I don't want to think about but we really do.

There isn't anything you can do to stop them, they know all the tricks. If they want your car its going. A locked garage is about the best and even then If they really want it it will be gone. Long time ago I helped restore a 68 Camaro, quite a bit was done to get it back in nice shape. Was stolen the 1st time the owner took it to work. Cops even saw it being towed away but didn't suspect a thing. Never stopped them or recorded plated etc. The same cop that came to report the incident was there when it was stolen! 2 years of work gone in a few mins. The owner of the 68 is now a under cover cop! Strange but true.

Onstar? A fuse pull by a savvy thief fixes that.
Prevent the theft by hiding a fuel pump cutoff switch. They'd have to tow the thing to steal it.

Kill switches and alarms are good to keep the joy riding punks at bay but what we all really need is input from some repo guys. What makes their job difficult? Nothing makes a car tow-proof but how about tow-resistant?
