I have dual aeroforce scan gauge setup as a shift lights in their vent pods. So bottom one i had set at 6000 and top one set at 6250. Theres some lag in refresh so realistically the gauges go off at 6250 and 6500.

I have the Pillar mount, DO you remember how you set them up, Not the RPM itself but do you choose P1 & P2 when it asks, or are you selecting just P1 or P2 in each gauge? Hopefully that made sense.

For best shift recovery you're going to want to be right up against the limiter, which is at 6600rpm. So, I think if you've got two lights I would set one for 6350 and make your 1-2 shift on that light, and then set your second light for 6500 and make your other shifts on that light. The 1-2 comes up kinda fast, which is why having the light come on earlier for that one is a benefit, if you try to snatch the 1-2 shift only 100rpm of the limiter you're probably going to get into the limiter at times.

Its been a while but you turn on the annocator, I think thats what it's called.... then go into the menu and you select above p1 or above p2 either or. Then you cycle through the numbers and make the value. I do believe I set mine up i selected P1&P2 on both gauges.

set the shift light about 300 rpm before your redline. Your reaction time to the light and actually making the shift you will be real close to the redline without hitting the limiter. If you hit the limiter than set the shift light 400 rpm early especially in the lower gears. If you go thru the traps close to the top of what ever gear your in, stretch out the shift light closer to your redline in that gear. I have a shift light that you can set each gear shift light to what ever you want.

The Limiter kicks in at 6,600? I thought it hit a little higher? I have hit it a before but I am not sure at what RPM exactly.

You can get a nice shift light from Speed Hut in Utah. They actually make the Holley Sniper shift lights but come with a lifetime warranty instead of 90 days. You plug it in to your OBD port and you can vary shift rpm's for up to 10 gears. It also has a launch function to set rpms for that too. Very handy, when you are done, just unplug it from the port and you're done. It will save your settings too.

The limiter is set at 6600 rpm, if you hit it than you were at 6600 rpm. In the heat of competition its almost impossible to be studying the tach that precisely to know exactly what RPM your at especially with a manual trans.

I rock a Speedhut OBDII shift light - I love it. Tying up my OBDII port with it is my only complaint, but being able to set a shift point by gear is huge, you need far more anticipate on the 1-2 and even 2-3 shift than you do for the 3-4. As somebody else mentioned, you cannot be trying to stare at the tach while you're wringing the car out, you need your eyes up where you can drive. A good shift light is invaluable for a stick car.

Raced a 68 Barracuda back in my teenage years, we didn't have shift lights. I used my ears and how close the guy was next to me......my how things have changed!
