Blown out LS3 water pump rear plug
Has anyone here blown out their LSX/ LS3 water pump rear panel/plug????? I was making a hard pass tuning the Pro EFI computer today and this water pump rear plug blew out on my 427LSX TT motor.

I've seen freeze plugs blow out from a blown head gasket but never a water pump plug. If your not losing compression into your cooling system I'd assume the plug just wasn't sealed correctly.

Thanx GH........ My LSX has screwed in freeze plugs. The WP was 11 years old and I am hoping that is why it blew. I am checking compression next.

I’ve blown a radiator out, swelled it, from a leaking head gasket and lotsa boost... Gasket was leaking due to the boost....and some giggle gas... lol... Radiator never leaked a drop... I swapped it out for an aluminum aftermarket radiator...
I’m guessing you are aware there is a pressure sensor you can use for the coolant system with ProEfi... A sudden spike in pressure (Indicative of a sudden head gasket leak due to boost or combustion chamber pressures) will put you into limp mode or even kill the motor...

On my LS2 pump I have noticed the rear plug moving a little, but it's never actually come all the way out.
Given the diameter of it, even with say 15psi in the system, that's a lot of force acting on it as it's pretty large diameter |

I know I'm dragging up a year old post.
Yes I just did this two weeks ago. Is this just a fluke. My car is an 11, lsa conversion etc. I've never even seen a drop of coolant leakage. Then during a hard pass..... Her water broke. Anyone else do this?

I had it happen on a Silverado with a new GM pump from Rock Auto...
