Front end passenger side squeaky

Camaro family,

I bought my 2011 base model back in 2016 from a used dealership in Dallas. The carfax said it was clean and free of any claims/issues with just one prior owner. Fast forward a few years and I get my front bumper replaced at a body shop (I parked too high on a parking block and when reversing out my bumper almost sheered right off) the body shop calls me to come take a look as they noticed there was front end damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. A small but noticeable amount of the frame was damaged. It still maintained its rectangular shape but it was definitely driven into something.

Since I was past my warranty I figured it wouldn’t be no big deal as my car drives perfectly fine and I’ve had it for awhile now. Fast forward to a few days ago and my car is squeaking on that same front end. Every time I go over a speed bump there is a noticeable difference in the way that side of the car absorbs the shock. It makes a weird noise and I’ve attached a link to a video of the squeaky noises.

I just got it looked at today. After paying $50 for a diagnostic test and 3 hours of waiting mindlessly, a local auto shop in my area says they didn’t get any codes for anything related to the issue but quoted me for a shock and linkage replacement. I didn’t go through with the replacement because I wanted a second opinion. Besides they were so busy I doubt they even did a thorough inspection. Suspension is beyond me, I am unfamiliar with the nomenclature and terminology so I apologize if this is difficult to comprehend.

Any idea of what could be wrong? Any recommendations to getting it fixed or at least looked at by someone who can actually pinpoint the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Here’s the link to the video showing my squeaky issue. https://youtube.com/shorts/tmIWiTACrRI?feature=share

TL/DR:front end of camaro passenger side making squeaky noises, car struck something before I purchased it (without my knowledge) not sure if it’s shocks, hub, struts, bearings etc. local auto shop couldn’t figure it out (likely didn’t inspect anything beyond a obd 2 read)

would an obd 2 read even tell you anything about the suspension? squeaking over bumps sounds like upper or lower control arm bushing to me.any halfway decent alignment /tire shop should be able to pinpoint that problem for you.

Check your front sway bar rubber bushings, maybe part of it is missing or dry and cracked, also maybe the front strut. Mine did that a little when my strut went bad, not quite that noisy, but I could hear it, even in the car. Replaced both struts and noise gone!! Good luck.

That’s what I said when they told me that it would be $60 for a diagnostic reading. But the lady at the counter seemed to know less about it than me. Sure enough they came back saying nothing was found besides a catalytic converter code I guess clogging or something. The rep was talking so fast it was hard to hear lol thank you for your input. I will take it to a specialized alignment/tire shop instead.

I appreciate your insight and help! You gave me quite a good starting point to troubleshoot from. I plan on learning the suspension assembly inside and out before I take it for a second opinion. That way I can at least communicate with the mechanic and hopefully wrap my head around all the parts!

I had a similar noise and it wound up being one of my front strut mounts. I replaced all four mounts when I installed my coilovers - noise free since.

I have a 2010 CTS wagon with 87k on it. If you go over a diagonal that kind of twists the car it has a bit of a squeak/groan. I replaced the entire roof panel a couple of years ago to eliminate some rust, otherwise its a kind of long box. It gets twisted just enough for some bits down in there somewhere move a bit. I just say it gives it character.
