Steering Wheel Shake, Pulsing, & Confusion

Good morning fellow DIY mechanics. I need your assistance. I have a 2011 SS/RS, 85K miles, with some steering issues. Problems started or I noticed when I would be driving and would drive the car around a corner to the left. I would get a slight shake/pulse in the steering wheel. Things slowly progressed to getting the shake via both right and left directions. Then got worse to the point that even sitting still and turning the wheel I get a shake and pulse in the wheel. During the progression of getting worse, I have tried the following things.

-I first replaced the Tie Rod on the right side. By all accounts, it seemed like there was some give when moving the tire by hand. This did not correct the issue.

-I then replaced both front wheel bearings. Thinking that maybe they had gone to where bearings go to die. But....to my suprise, it did not fix the issues. Note, I have not got things aligned after replacing the tie rod. Mainly cause I want to get things fixed first before doing the alignment.

-Next I decided to replace the PS pump and bleed/change all the PS fluid. Note, I did not have any noise out of the PS pump. But figured what else could it be. And of course, by my luck, this did not fix the issue.

-After replacing the PS pump, a new found symptom appeared. With the front tires jacked off the ground. I can have the ignition ON, but not the engine, and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and right. I have no shake/pulsing in the steering wheel. However, when i start the engine and do the same thing, the shake/pulsing is present with a vengenance. Thus I am beginning to think this is an electronic issue......

I have recieved a few "Service Stabiltrak" warnings during all this, but they never stay on. I have connected a OBD2 scanner and there are no error codes.

Could this be: a steering angle sensor, abs sensor, wheel speed sensor, gremlins, steering rack, who knows.....

Looking for as much assistance as you can provide. I am at a loss

Does your car have regular power steering or electric power steering? If it has regular hydraulic power steering most likely the steering unit has a problem and needs to be replaced. You could try flushing the power steering fluid and putting lucas power steering fluid in see if it helps. I had trouble with mine pulsing in turns while driving, replacing the fluid stopped it.

It is regular hydraulic power steering. I have replaced the fluid and it still is doing this.

Maybe a problem with the rack.

Yea, I'm thinking the same thing here. Not on this car, but on my stang I used to have, had some of the same stuff going on, and it was in the steering rack. Good luck. There are small pistons and valves and seals in them that could malfunction while "under pressure" as the pump is pumping fluid thru it.

Have you checked the FLCA's?

I had to do them on my Camaro and my G8(they are the same suspension design the Camaro is heavier duty )
